Window Screen Weather Stripping ???

Started restoring the windows on my 71' INT. The window screens don't seem to fit well aganst the window frame , The screens were replaced mercifully, but I'm wondering if there were small strips of seal 1/4 in. Thick ???[around] the screen between the screen frame and the window frame that were discarded when the screens were renewed?? Anyone know??
