Flat fixed oval Windows 1970

Has anyone replaced plexi with tempered glass before to restore to all glass windows? Wondering what seal or caulking was put between the glass and the aluminum frame to secure it. Also there is a small piece of metal like a pencil lead holding the two frames together. Anyone know where to get this. Broke my first new window today clamping the frame together a little too tight.

My wife just picked up glass panes for this very change Yesterday, I had a local glass shop order them for me. the panes ended up being $62 each cut and Tempered. I thought that since those windows sit next to the couch and table, that tempered glass might not scratch as easily.

The pins that hold the window together are called roll pins or slotted spring pins. Your local hardware store carries some sizes, or Mcmaster carr will have them. you can also get them in Stainless steel or Zinc plate usually.
Mine are in fine shape so I'm going to re-use them, but I've seen other people ask.

It's done. I mean mostly. It works anyway.
