Yesterday before leaving our campsite we went through our usual pre-flight check making sure everything was turned off shut down Windows closed tightly. We drove for 3 hours pulled over to have lunch and realized that a window was missing. There were shards of shattered glass and the window struts as you can see in the picture but no window. Has anyone else had this issue? We are certain it was locked and the only thing we can figure on is Hardware failure.
Thanks. I didn't know. I wonder what Airstream official position on this might be? We refused to let it ruin the remainder of our vacation.
Contact them and ask.

Do you know what a learning experience is? A learning experience is one of those things that says "You know that thing that you just did? Don't do that."
Having worked in the glass industry for years. I learned that glass is always under stress. The annealing process is meant to reduce the stress.
Exploding glass items occur more often than you think. Any glass item can sit around for years then suddenly shatter.
Did your latches seem overly tight? I worked for a glass company also and based on your being sure the window was latched, I can tell you it's entirely possible if it was latched too tight, a slight flexing of the trailer body could have been enough to shatter it. Those windows are made like tempered glass. Resistant to impact but not so against flex or edge deflection..
