Quite a butcher job. It looks like you'll need to patch as a minimum, or depending on the conditon of the surrounding skin you may be better off re-skinning the door.
Were any structural elements cut?
Regards,
Kevin

there was no structural damage that i can see. I did get a message from inland RV saying that the square hole was for an L-100 lock and the bottom hole is for the dead bolt. Does this make sense. What do you think? does anyone know the dimensions for the hole for the L-100 lock?
thanks

I think this is the lock Andy is talking about. Bargman Lock
The deadbolt too. http://www.vintagetrailersupply.com/..._p/vts-343.htm

L-100 lock
The L-100 lock uses a round interior handle, which doesn't break.
The L-200 lock is the same lock, except it has a horizontal handle on the inside, which is famous for breaking, since you must pull on it to close the door.
That happens usually when new door gaskets are installed, which are essential to stopping water leaks at the door area.

Photocodo,
You could just replace the damaged section of the door as I have done here:

Airstream Specific Bargman Locks

Actually, I think what Andy meant is more like "Yep, that's almost the one." The one for an Airstream like Andy and others sell (see http://www.inlandrv.com/catalog/imag...-lock-l100.jpg) has a special longer bolt (the part that sticks out from the door into the striker) than the one shown at Amazon in the photo. If you install one with the normal length bolt (much cheaper than the Airstream version) the bolt will not protrude beyond the door frame, leaving you looking into the hole in the side of the frame with a quizzical expression. You're probably wondering how I know this.
Be sure to get one with the proper bolt length. If you were replacing a L-100 and had a good striker bolt of the correct length, you could possible get by with one of the cheaper short bolt versions by disassembling the locks and switching the bolts, but then you still would have an old bolt in a new lock. The most recent time (twice now) I replaced a L-100 the problem was with the bolt anyway.
Note, not trying to put words in Andy's mouth, specifically endorse, or anything. I have just made this error in the past and no one would want you too. I was able to buy and return locally here in Little Rock from a dealer I had done business with, so it was no big deal. More difficult if you have to buy online at Amazon and then try to return it.

Good point, I know on our 67's they use the long bolt and looking at the pictures above it looks like it may take the long bolt as well.
On my 60 I have the door in the door like the 64 and it would definitely take the short bolt.
Get the tape measure out nothing is standard on these gems.

Thanks Andy,
I knew that you'd get it right. I was concerned about someone getting something online from a source that didn't know about the difference.
I'm glad you clarified the difference.

Will the Bargman L100 work for this unit because of the round hole on the inside of the door? or do I need to cut a square hole for the inside?

The L-100 should fit, but you may have to do a little trimming.
You also should replace the nylon striker pockets

Hi Cody,
Andy got back to you about the L-100 fitting the hole before I could.
Another question, do you have the deadbolt that goes in the lower holes & uses the lower striker pocket? If not, you will want to get one of those too. My Trade Wind doesn't have the deadbolt and I always wished it did. Plus, you need to fill those holes anyway. Really, the deadbolt adds a lot to the security.

Usually, you can get the dead bolt at Home Depot.

Thanks Andy,
The only Airstream deadbolt I have any experience with is in my 1983 Excella. It has the bolt that is thinner than a home deadbolt. I wasn't sure if he would need something Airstream specific for his.

I actually went to ace hardware and picked up a deadbolt for $12 that fits pretty well. It took me a little time to "shimmy" it into the door but overall it works well.
Thanks
