Don't know about a new one. Is your insert broken or missing?
My key was stuck in the lock...with door locked shut!
I had to pull door hinges, remove door and then take my lock apart. I was able to reuse the tumbler insert, purchase new house door lock and swap out tumblers and springs. My old springs sure shot and tumblers worn down.

The Airstream tumbler is now different. You would have to remove the lock and have it machined down to fit their new tumblers.
At this point, we have another supply of a tumblers that will fit directly.
However, it is not exactly in appearance as the original.
Functionally, it gets the job done.

It really wasn't THAT romantic...
Found out Saturday that we are going to need a new doorknob/tumbler/lock/something, when we were working in the trailer and our son shut the door tight on the way out to keep in the air conditioning.
We couldn't get out!!!! The inside lever didn't work. David finally had to open the window next to the door and was able to reach out and turn the knob.
Another thing to add to the list!!!

Andy,
I bought a new tumbler insert from you last year to keep as a spare for my 72 International.
Well it is time to use the spare, last night when I took to key out, the tumbler came with it.
What are the steps to replace the tumbler? Do I need to take lock apart?

Anybody else replace just the tumbler on a 71 lock,
Does it just slip in, my old one came out with the key.
Anything else I should do while the tumbler is out.
How about the brass shims that Andy talks about.

KT Lock
The tumbler has a ring at the back that is forced slightly out to keep it in the housing, put the tumbler in at a slight angle lightly pushing the ring in and it will slide in and lock, now if you need to take it out you'll need to remove the lock to slip the ring into the tumbler to allow it to slide out. The original tumbler is no longer manufactured, a longer tumbler with the same features can be machined down on the back side and will work, some slight adjusting (filing of the pin at the back of the tumbler) may be necessary.
The brass shim is used to take the wear of the striker in the jamb, alot easier to occasionally replace this small shim that deal with damage to the aluminum frame from wear and vibration.

How does shim fit into striker plate
Attached is a pic of the striker plate on my 72 27' international.
I don't have any brass shim and wonder how it fits in.
Does anyone have a picture that shows. Can I buy just the shim?

The shim costs less than $3.00. You may have to add something else to your order, to make up a minimum order.
The attached shows the location of the shim.

You may want to change your mind about a new KT lock for your 73.
Airstreams price on that lock is a couple of cents over $ 600.00.
You might consider removing the lock and sending it to an Airstream repair shop, to be overhauled.
That usually reduces the cost considerably.
We are one of the few dealers that offer that service.
