speaker/antenna locations

Hopefully you folks can give me some opinion/recommendations for one of my next projects - installing an antenna, speakers and radio.
My 1981 Excella II does not have speakers or a radio. apparently there are provisions for these already built-in. In the rear of the trailer there is a cabinet that has an antenna wire, 4 speaker wires, 12v hot wire and a ground wire.

Questions:
  1. Are the wires terminated somewhere within the front walls?
  2. I have an owners manual that shows the locations of various items measuring from the front seam or rear seam. Are these typically accurate? wire locations.pdf
  3. If this is the typical location, what size speaker (diameter and depth) should be used? Should it be a surface mount speaker?
  4. According to the manual it shows that the antenna should be installed on the left front of the trailer 5" rearward of the front window? Does this seem accurate?
  5. I was going to install a car radio with an ipod hookup? Is this the best type of radio to install? Will this radio get AM reception within the trailer?

My '86 Sovereign has them between the windows like your have circled. The wires for the antenna are behind the speaker on the street side.

The locations you list are about right. It should be prewired. Someone out there should be able to tell you exactly where to cut holes in the interior skin. I would check with Inland RV.

The location of the front speakers wires are, 48 to 49 inches above the floor and 15 inches forward of station zero.

Station zero, is the most forward "main bow".

I agree - Andy's input can be very valuble! - Thanks Andy. This confirms the measurement that was in the attached pdf file.

Do you guys think 5 1/4" - 2 way speakers would do the job?

I imagine so.

I put in 5 1/4" - 4 way Sony speakers that I got at Wal Mart quite reasonably. See http://www.airforums.com/forums/f450...ent-38596.html

That speaker was Sony model XS-R1342. Now they are selling model XS-R1343, essentially the same but blue instead of red and slightly different grills. Online for $29.96 (Walmart.com: Sony 5 1/4" 4-Way Speakers, 160 Watts Power Handling, XSR1343: Auto Electronics). Mine sound great.

There are a couple of other speaker installs on that thread too. Plenty of options.
