My 2015 FC 25RB AV issues

Hi, I have a 2015 25ft RB Flying cloud with 2 samsung TVs and the Clarion M502 receiver and have a couple of small issues:

1. HDMI connectivity
The owners manual says there should be a HDMI witch somewhere that I can plug a second device into. I have an apple TV I want set up. Worst case scenario the blu-ray play gets the chop!

2. Buzzing in the Subwoofer
When the main LED cabin lights are on there is a horrible buzz through the subwoofer, even when the AV system is fully off. I can stop the noise by unplugging the subwoofer power connector (also gives me concern about parasitic draw on the 12V system). In my limited car audio experience this type of buzz/hum is the artifact of a poor ground loop, but I am looking for advice.

Thanks in advance!

Just a quick update:

2. Buzzing in the Subwoofer:

The noise was coming in on the power lines and not through the RCAs so I was going to install a filter on the power line. Unfortunately I could not dial the Collins sub in to sound balanced so it got the chop...

I got rid of the trash Collins USA 8" sub and installed a Bazooka MBTA8100 8-Inch 100-Watt Marine Amplified Tube Subwoofer (Amazon $203.99). Problem solved! prob just better filtering on the input of the amp.

I have never used a bazooka sub before, although I have been well aware of them. It was easy to install (fits soo perfectly). It was easy to balance the level and the Clarion M502 has enough adjustment to finish it off. Adds nice oomph to the movies.

If you are considering such an upgrade I think it works well.

WOW, I don't even know what brand or kind of TV or stereo is in my Classic. I never use them. Oh, to be young again.

It is rather hard to appreciate great ecoustics when you are half deaf.

However, wife out of town, I can relate to that. Come to think of it, it should be about time to send my wife down to Texas to see if my mother-in-law is still alive.

The HDMI cable you seek is behind the DVD player. You have to unscrew the box to get it out.

The HDMI switcher is 1 in 2 out, it doesn't have a second switchable input only automatic switchable outputs. If you want the AtV you must sacrifice the BR player. Are you streaming off a laptop or something or using a Gen1 ATV? Keep in mind that the USB port on the front of the Samsung player reads many types of video formats (up to 1080P formats) so a USB memory stick full of content comes in handy .

I always heard the sub woofer and the antenna amp draw lots of parasitic power. I keep my antenna off and unfortunately don't have a switch for the woofer. I have to pull the fuse if we are dry camping.

thank you! I checked this out and I get it now. the splitter just shares the BR play to the 2 TVs. So I pulled that out and stuck in my Apple TV 2. I have a pep wave "surf on the go" and stream from my laptop. I don't really have any DVDs or BR discs any more. Thanks for the heads up.

hhendrix.
I think you are right, the AV system does have some parasitic draw, the old sub would hum when the AS lights were on, so some power must have been flowing throughout he amp.... With the new sub/amp the hum is not there but I would assume there is still some draw, I have not worked out how much, but if I dry camp I will pull the fuse too, thanks for the advice.

I think this thread is dead! Good job guys - thanks!!!!
