surge protection

I am looking at installing a" whole house" surge protector in my 2002 Classic and was wondering if anyone else has done this/ I realise that they do not do 'everything' that the external ones do, but I like the conveniance of it being hard wired into the trailer. I would use a plug in volt meter to monitor the variance in voltage as required.
before I pick one up I was just wondering if there are any others out there using them.
As usual, I appreciate any assistance given

Actually they do everything an external unit will do. We like the Progressive Industries EMS-HW30C or 50C if you have 50 amp service. They also have a lifetime warranty.

Ditto on the Progressive Industries EMS. Works flawlessly. Get one with a remote monitoring screen, if your installation will be out of site.
