Vintage Light Fixture Light Diffusers

For a number of years I have been looking to replace the diffuser material on my inside booth lights. The 50 year old materila is starting to fall apart and show signs of rust from the shade frame which I had chromed awhile ago. After running across Meteor Lights webpage, I decided to call them and see if I could purchase just the material and not a whole lamp shade. Rob was very helpful and told me it would be $30 for 2 10"x10" sheets in the color I wanted. The material with the finish colors of my choosing needed to be made since they don't keep it in stock, just the base material. As you can see in the upper right photo, the old lens material is showing some rust and the colors and finish are flat.

Today, the postman delivered my package from Meteor Lights and it took only a few minutes to attach them to the two fixtures. What an improvement. See for yourself.

Their webpage is MeteorLights.com and they have a variety of colors and styles of materials to choose from. Highly recommended.

That looks really nice! That's great that they were so helpful. I have a vintage lamp I've been putting off restoring because I didn't know where I would get the lampshade material from. I'll have to go check them out.

Brad,

Thanks for the link. One day, I'm sure I'll need some new light diffusers for my living room lights. Maybe I can use them for replacement of my lens for my bathroom & bed lights, but I'm not sure because of the heat from the light bulbs.

Judging from the type of material, I don't think the heat from the bulb will be a problem if you're not using over a 60 watt bulb. I lowered the wattage of mine to 40 watts a couple of years ago and they put out plenty of light for my needs. With white or light colored walls, there is plenty of light to read by and that is usually my measuring stick.

Love those wall lights.Too bad they did away with wall lights in newer airstreams--lost quite a bit of ambience with that decision--newer design ideas often don't compare with good old ones!!
