I learned how to fix my rocker / toggle switches today

Most of my rocker switches in the 69 safari didn't work properly or at all. Some of them would kind of work partway through the toggling process but not at the spot they should start and stop at. My darling other half is teaching me mechanical/electrical stuff as we restore her and the fix was so painfully simple and I figure there are probably bucket loads of people that just go and replace the whole switch because it kinda barely works so I thought I should share. First drill out the rivets holding the toggle in. With a test light check both the in and out wires...it's his arms in this shot not mine...I promise

If the test light come on but only on one of the lines your switch is either dead or corroded

grab some electrical contact cleaner or in our case SensorKleen since we already had some of that at home and spray it in every moving part

After you have sprayed it everywhere including the hinge pin...toggle it back a forth a whole bunch, spray it again, toggle back and forth a whole bunch and repeat. Ever darn switch in the 69 works now. I only had one properly operational one before today :-)

If that doesn't work for you then you can replace your toggle
