Water Filter

Need some information on putting a Water Filter in the supply line. Something that can hook up the supply hose to as well as the supply faucet. I not finding anything on this.
Want to keep all the dirt and stuff out of the trailer plumbing

We use the big blue in-line fresh water filters that you can get at Wal-Mart or Camping World. We have used these filter for about ten years now.

We always keep a spare filter on hand as when they clog, it comes without warning.

If you buy the two pack at Wal-Mart, you can save some money

A Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) filter is a good all-purpose filter for RV use. GAC filters more contaminants that most other filter types. The longer the water remains in the filter, the more effective the filter will be, so get the largest-capacity GAC filter you can find.

The pore size of the filter also helps determine the effectiveness. A 5-micron filter is better than a 10-micron filter.

Connect the filter at the service pedestal end of the hose and it will filter the water before it ever enters the hose, let alone the trailer. Considering how low to the ground some campground spigots are, a short (six inch) section of hose between the spigot and the filter can help.

The first time you use a new filter, run a few gallons of water through it before hooking up, because carbon dust will come out of it, and you want that carbon dust to go on the ground, not into your plumbing.

Also, if you put a screened washer in the short hose in between the filter and the filter, that will block larger debris from even entering the filter, and can be cleaned easily enough by removing the screen periodically to knock accumulated debris out of it.

I put these screened washers not only in the female hose connection at the spigot, but also at my municipal water inlet on the side of the Airstream.

Thank You, Guess will visit Wally World tomorrow. Have trailer hooked up top a well and can't keep it from pushing a little dirt once in awhile. Not much, but enough top plug up screens in short order
