Dinosaur board question

I just bought a Dinosaur board for my water heater and when I installed it will not work. It is getting power (green light is lit) but nothing else. Do I need to cut the jumper for the "instant fire"? My heater is an Atwood G6A-6E. Thanks.

Did you also buy the gas igniter board that goes on the side of the "master" board. This is necessary for the self igniting feature of the HWH.

It's the little green board piggybacked on the master in the lower left picture here:

Not sure what the gas igniter board is. My unit just had the black potted board (I think that's what it's call) There is no other board in the water heater. My unit is the original part from '89.

The place I ordered the part from only mentioned that I would need the waterproof cover, nothing about another board. now I'm confused. Would this extra board fit inside the cover I bought?

no, it plugs onto the dinosaur board where you now have your harness plugged in. The harness will plug onto the "piggyback board. See the pic in my previous post link.

This post is just because I found this old thread confusing.

I also have an Atwood six gallon electronic ignition water heater. On my unit, and on the new Dinosaur UIB-S boards as of 2015, there is no extra adapter needed as described above. It's just plug and play, working with the existing wiring. You want to buy the UIB-S board, and the matching two-tab mounting kit, which comes with a waterproof cover for your new board.
