Thetford Smart Tote vs Barker Tote Along

I'm going to upgrade to a tote tank with wheels and built-in hose. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with either the Thetford Smart Totes or the Barker Tote Alongs?

crookedroad,
I bought the 18 gallon thetford, it works great. The built in hose works well, and we can still lift it into the Excursion when full to go dump it. Its hose connection enables it to hook up to the low drain on the trailer, without having the tote directly under it. Its a cleaver design and i've had no problems with it.

Thanks, seldencove. I read some mixed reviews of the thedford on various sites, but the design really appears functional. I appreciate your comments.

I have a Thetford 18 gallon tank. This is the only tank I have ever owned so I do not know about the design of others.
It works ok but I think it has a design flaw. I can never fully get the tank to drain. It always seems to have about a gallon left inside.
I would check out the design of all of them before purchasing.

I bought a Barker after looking and doing research between the barker and the thetford. Why? you never have to lift the Barker to empty it just pull the valve on the side. Also the theford I was looking at had a plastic handle. The Barker handle is stronger(steel) and pulls and follows your two vehicle nicely.I ordered mine right from the factory.I've owned both over the years .I strongly recommend the Barker. But I don't think Campersworld sells them.Look at them on line very carefully.Good LucK Dr. J

I have a 27 gallon thetford that I use primarily for gray water. I have not had any trouble out of it at all. Draining it is a simple operation, and it's big enough to handle black and gray water for a weekend without making two trips to the dump station. It doesn't have the draining issue mentioned above regarding the 18 gallon model. Overall, I'm very pleased with it.
