Fresh water hose connection
Water connection hatch has a porthole in right that is for hose to enter. But I can't get hose to make such a tight bend to water connection. 2017 classic. Any thoughts.

Add an elbow
Pickup an elbow and put that in place. It'll let you make the connection from the portal.

I found this for a different RV, but it worked perfectly. Clip on the water hose and no leaks.

Or, could you radius out the section of the black metal strip above the connection to give you more clearance?

It will work fine if you get a 1/2" diameter water hose without a metal spring on it. The plastic springs are OK. I just replaced mine and it cost under $20.

I installed this swivel elbow on my 2016 Classic and it has been one of the most useful, inexpensive devices I installed. Easy to use the hose portal without kinking and close the hatch. Be sure to put on fresh hose washers.

I have the same year and model and I haven't had any problems connecting a hose. Wish I could be of more help, sorry. My only thoughts are too obvious and I am sure you have already tired those.

Warning: Your "water closet" looks very similar to the one on my 2014 27FB Classic; and on mine, the hose connection inside the box on the right goes to the black tank cleaner, not the city water intake. Make sure you haven't got those mixed up!
I always use a Camco charcoal filter for my city water hookup, and they come with a 6" reinforced male/female hose section, which I connect to the city water intake and then to the filter (easier to get on and off). My Classic also came with a 1 foot reinforced hose section that was connected to my black water cleanout, which makes connecting it to my non-drinking water (yard) hose very easy.
Your setup might be totally different, but looking at the picture and knowing where my blackwater tank cleaner hookup is gave me pause enough to mention it...

Welcome to the forum!
Are you following the procedures in your owner's manual? Not sure if you fill the tank via the city water connection, or via a fill port on the exterior of the trailer, but most Airstreams have a small locked door on the exterior, near the rear street-side corner, which you have to unlock, then stick a new potable water hose, with an inline Camco filter, into the fill tube.
You could also call the dealer and your sales person. Most of them work on Sundays.
Good luck!

Hi
Since we're back to talking about this .....
Airstream has a nice video on hooking up the shore water. They show you storing the water hose in the compartment inside the hatch / beside the connections. It's certainly convenient. At least mine is not very tight closing. The tires toss a lot of crud up in that area.
So - how many use the compartment for it's "intended use?". So far I have not done it that way. The outside of the hose gets dirty on the ground. Keeping the outside clean is not worth worrying about. The concern is crud on the ends and inside the hose ....

Hmmm
I'll be looking at this and trying to make it work one way or another... too convenient to let it go, big baggy...small tub...seal up door better....hmmm

I use mine for intended purpose. Bought larger, better fitting seals and installed mud flaps to keep crap at a minimum.

I prefer to screw the two ends of the hose together, even though my Interstate doesn't have outside storage where thrown road dirt is a problem. With the ends of the hose screwed together, no dirt gets into it— and no water trapped in the hose leaks out, either. I used to cap the ends, but when I lost a cap, I screwed the ends together as a makeshift, and then realized that's better. So I lost the rest of the caps, too…

Hi
I've been doing the same thing (hose screwed end to end). I *know* the caps must be around here somewhere though ....

Ditto. It also prevents critters from crawling inside. Just drain the hose before coiling and storing.
I have a quick connect fitting and it came with a matching end cap so I just snap the two together.
