Draining the fresh water tank

I'm really new to this. Last winter my Dad and I "winterized" my 25' 2008 Safari. First time out, the water coming out of the faucets was pink and bubbly. I thought that I had drained the fresh water tank, but when my Dad took it out last week, the water was still suspect/ tasted yucky. He's unsure how to completely drain the freshwater tank. Apparently there are 2 petcocks but the water won't come out of them...when he tried that, he said he got about a tablespoon of anti-freeze. Does anyone out there have any insight into this?

the 'petcock' values drain the water LINES only.

they are the low water line drain valves used to drain OUTSIDE lines b4 winter.

_______

to drain the fresh TANK, use the nylon drain valve ON the tank.

there is a pic of the valve in post #14 here...

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f443...icks-5498.html

this is typically on the street side between or near the WHEELs.

it' helps to TILT the trailer slightly to that side (raise the curb side)...

simply done using the road crown/grade or a plank.
__________

consider FILLING and draining 2-3 times completely.

it may take a HOUR+ to drain a full tank ONE TIME via gravity.

the fill/dilute/drain repeat cycle can be quickened

by using the freshwater PUMP and gray tank exit...

shut OFF the pump as the tank gets low...

to avoid over heating the pump.

cheers
