VTS awnings are very nice ~
I only share the following info as an alternate if the VTS color selection is too limited for you.
Unfortunately for me, when I was shopping for our awniing, VTS didn't offer them yet. Through lots of research and much gnashing of teeth (see link above), I found TCT&A Industries who ended up making ours - we received it in less than three weeks from placing our order. Looking at both awnings side-by-side at several rallies they are essentially the same - same kind of fabric, grommets & poles, etc. and of 100% equal quality IMO. The cost is also comparable from what I can tell.
The one major advantage IMO with TCT&A is that your color choices are not limited to: Yellow, Green, Red or Blue as they are at VTS. TCT&A will make your awning in any Sunbrella or Dickson fabric available. Over 100 colors (stripes & solids) to choose from, plus you can choose different edge details and fringe/no fringe, basically they are 100% custom. They also allowed me to order extra fabric to make our matching window awnings. They would have made those as well, but I decided to do them myself.
On the other hand, if VTS has a color you want...they are terrific folks to work with, we support them regularly with the purchase of other items.
Good luck in whatever you decide to do ~ we love the vintage look...regardless of who makes it!

The reason I asked the price is that a friend is making one for my 10x15 with heavy duty alum poles and slip pipe fittings.
He says he would make a small profit at about $300, how does that sound?

...or something else is compromised.
Sunbrella fabric is $19.99 per yard at Beacon Fabrics online. It's 46" wide. Counting matching stripes & a scalloped valance, I would estimate a 10'x15' awning would take about 17-18 yards of fabric plus the poles ~
Sounds to me he gets special pricing on Sunbrella fabric or he is using something else. Sunbrella is a special sun-resistant outdoor canvas which will last much longer than any indoor canvas.

Lipets, I'm anxious to see your awning at the Florida get-together, especially how it stabilizes on the concrete pad. I love my awning from VTS, it stood up well in rain and gusty breezes to 14 mph, totally dry underneath. But I hate to set up using concrete blocks with ropes when I can't use stakes. Price wise, my 14 x 8 was $555, it was worth it to me. I'm totally pleased with it (except the "no stakes allowed" stituations). And it is lightweight too.

Sugarfoot - you may be able to do the "tree" thing if there is a no stake rule. Bring some extra line - I may have some. I find it much easier sometimes to tie to trees instead of ground stakes - for one thing it keeps me from tripping on the low lines.

He's bring it over for a trial setup the weekend after this, I'll wear a helmet
I'll hope to have it setup for Topsail
Shari, based on what your saying it must be made out of a different material.

Thanks, good idea, I know that worked for you and I at Lake Chatuge. Bring extra line, yes, I need to add that to the pack list. Hopefully I'll have more than stumpy palmetto around my site. Looked like pine and some stout scrub oak might be available. And Lord knows I need to minimize the tripping hazards!

Looks good but needed a recut, hope to have it back this weekend.
It has 1" alum poles not just in the corners and center front.
He made it with poles across the whole front, but the thing that makes this work a bit different is there is a pole from each outside corner back to the trailer need to fab a bracket near the track on the trailer roof. This keeps some pressure outward on it, like the roll ups.
I think it should be kind of tight all round and not sag.
I know this needs a pic!

We bought awning from Steve at Vintage Trailer Supply and have been very happy with the quaity and workmanship.
By the way the trailer with the blue awning is our 1959 Tradewind at the International rally in Salem Or. this past summer .
