finally get a chance to take the awning out of our 2005 classic, which we got last year in march. Noticed the blue awning material had some brownish streaks on it , most likely from past years of usage and not being cleaned.
We make our own laundry detergent using baking soda, washing soda, oxy clean, and soap flakes. I mixed up that in a bucket of water and put a cup of bleach in two gallons of water, which was warm as the hose had been out in sun so it was some what warm.
I used a car wash brush, which may not be stiff enough and scrubbed the awning, making sure to keep it wet, rolled it up and let sit for 20 or so min, unrolled and rinsed with spray nozzle on hose and could see a lot of dark water. I keep rinsing till the water ran clean.
tried to let it dry but got rain overnight and humidity in Raleigh NC is HIGH so this afternoon when i got back noticed it was better and dry but still not completely clean.
SO i mixed up more cleaning stuff and did it all again. did notice it appeared to be a bit more clean but still needs to dry which might take all night again and into tomorrow. hope it does not rain again..
did not get before pictures but will get afters in the morning or when the dang thing is dry..
