My problem with steel wool on aluminum is that very tiny particles of steel actually embed in the aluminum surface and will naturally rust. Irrespective of apparently excellent results, on principle, steel wool on aluminum's gotta be a bad practice.

I found a super easy way to polish an Airstream. The process is very clean and a 26 foot trailer is easily polished in a few days. The first step is to hook on to the trailer. Next you tow it to 1st Impressions Polishing and Detailing in Hanover PA. Third you fork over $60/foot to polish it( $75 if it needs to be stripped also). Very painless, even on the wallet.

wow

beautiful results! I love the photo of the other Airstream in the grassy field. If I achieve half that reflection I'll be jumping up and down! (mine looks like the oxidized one in the last photo...)

Polishing IS a real sweaty workout- and dirty too. But right now it's too hot over here to polish...It is so hot outside right now, that I am imagining that this is what the passengers of the shuttle feel like during re-entry. You can just feel that heat bouncing off the trailer ha! ...and this polishing business can almost sound like a bunch of chefs in a kitchen making the same dish.

new thread for exterior work

Thanks for asking about the progress. Since I find it annoying to sift through threads that are longer than 3 pages, I started a fresh link. Happy to answer any questions...
