stainless doors without rivets but holes

Fiancee gave us a water heater door and furnace door fin stailess from AIrstream shop for Christmas

she ordered and paid for the rivet version

comes to find out .. no rivets just holes
what gives ?

it clearly says with rivets
she spend upwards of 300 bucks for the doors.
I find this pretty lame that airstream sends out junk

That's strange. When I was at JC a couple of years ago they had a s/s water heater door with rivets in their bargain bin - they told me it had a scratch on it (never found it) and sold it to me for $75. All the rivets were bucked. I'd suggest you call JC and talk to them.

Last year I had ordered an item that was defective (vendor product) from airstream. Called JC and they were very apologetic and replace the item. I found the customer service to be excellent. I feel reasonably sure they will take care of you if you give them a call.

Kind of harsh to call the door junk because the rivets were not included. Have you called Airstream and discussed it with them? I bet they would be happy to send you the rivets.

Boy do I feel dumb about this!!! I also ordered the Stainless covers for the furnace, Water Heater, Water Fill, outside shower, and Stove vent, and no rivets were included or instructions of any kind, so I did not think I was missing anything. So I proceeded to use SS screws to mount the covers, and was very frustrated that some of the covers such as the Water fill door and outside shower would not close with some of the SS screws, no matter which SS screws I would use.

With this thread I now realize that these covers are to be mounted with RIVETS!! Being surround by rivets as I worked this project, I cannot believe that it did not occur to me to use Rivets!!

Now I also understand why our AS Dealer sent us an envelope full of rivets, as I had only needed 2 rivets to replace a few that had come out on the inside. Now to wait for the temperature to get back above freezing so I can correct this and "Get Riveted"

yup that was part of the deal .... I am sure somebody packed a bunch without rivets and now they will add them and than be able to resell them

got the new ones today and they are on the Airstream looking good

ALSO .... got a plate of the water, which I assume needs some glue
Anybody with a good idea what glue holds that stainless piece on the plastic door .... I would hate to loose it somewhere
thanks Thor
