Scratches on exterior - During Warranty Work

I took my brand new 2009 27 ft Flying Cloud in for warranty repairs and when I went to pick it up, I discovered several scratches right under the rolled-up awning. I believe the scratches occurred during work being performed on the roof. The service department informed me that they would fix them. Will this required a new clear coat finish? Or what should I expect?

I would suggest that you contact the factory regarding that issue.

Since that clearcoat cannot be applied in the field, not even by Airstream, I have no idea what the dealer may try to do.

You may have to replace the sheet metal.

I would also suggest that you contact your insurance company, and report the damage.

hi 'harvey...

no pics makes offering advice guess work.

IF the scratches are through the clearcoat, the only cosmetically perfect repair is PANEL replacement...

there is NO aftermarket "new" clearcoat available that matches the alcoa finish...

touch up will be CLEARLY visible and on a new unit, most owners have to decide what's ok and what isn't...

IF the scratches are NOT through to metal, they can be improved some...

all u need to read is right here...

or DECALS can be used to cover the area...
