Carpet on Step hides the problem it causes.

If you bought a carpet for your step and haven't looked under the carpet for a couple of years, time to take it off and be surprized. Rust!
It was at least 4 yrs old and starting to need a good cleaning so I took it off to pressure wash and discovered it has the ability to hold water and cause a lot of rust. Decided not to put it back on. While off it was time to improve the height, 10.5 inches from the step well. This caused hip and knee to notice the long step down. I was able to add 1.5 inches and the step would still operate.

Yeah mine was hiding a crack along with the rust. I think a non-skid tape or non-skid paint would work.

I removed my step, took it to a local company that does spray in Berliners and for about 50 bucks got the bed liner material sprayed on the steps ... Easier on bare feet, better grip and good protection for the step.
