Could you give us an update on your Barker jack? Did your lube job in Post #4 get it working again? See recent posts for details of where we are on this project.

Thanks,

Peter

While i have the tool, when I've needed to crank i use a 3/8 drive ratchet w/8" extension and a long socket. It takes forever and is easier & faster than the tool. Also i don't have to reconnect the tool on each turn. Seems the propane cover on mine was a hinderance.

P.s. Socket size is what fits on the 3/8 drive. I use a 7/16 12 pt deep socket as that was a odd spare i had in my tool chest. Different pt may translate to a different size.

Thanks Bob.

I got an 3/8" drive adaptor for the Milwaukee M12 cordless drill, but haven't tried it yet. I think it will have the oomph to handle the jack up and down.

Duh, just clicked. You're need to the tool with w/ the pin end to re-synchronize once the head is off.

Yes thanks. I missed this question.
I had called Barker the first time and was told it wasn't necessary to remove the C clip.
Called back a second time to ask about the micro switches and asked about C clip again and was told Yes you did have to remove it. I was also told by both Barker and my dealer that lubricating the gears every year was totally not needed. More like every 5 years. Seems that the biggest problems are with the inboard micro switch and the main toggle. Replaced both, fired some lubricant into the top gears and it sounds like new. It was also recommended to keep the jack head covered to stop moisture from entering when not in use.
