The "very large plug (pic 2)" is the OBD-II connection.

There are other brake controllers that work (e.g. Prodigy) but none of them are as good as the MaxBrake.

That 4-pin connector in your pic# 1 looks like the correct one - there is a label, just out of the pic - check it's description, it should have something about towing or trailer brakes, etc....

Thanks Again :)

Thanks again for all the good info.!

I checked out the Prodigy & MaxBrake sites. After reading a number of articles & comments, I'm kinda leaning toward the MaxBrake controller. I think I'll give them or their Southwest distributor a call on Tuesday. I was wondering if there was any issues with that type of controller and ABS? Thanks

no.

the modern hydraulic/transducer/electric controllers do NOT interfere with abs on the tv.

they also don't PROVIDE abs for the trailer.

cheers

May I also add.. in the rear of your Expedition, or maybe in your glove box, should be a kit for wiring up your controller, including a relay and some fuses and instructions about how and where they go. It's a little bag about 7" by 3", mine was in a little storage box on the left in the rear. It is not hard to install at all if you follow the directions.

MaxBrake on the way!

I decided to order the MaxBrake, and it's beeing shipped now! Thanks for all your help! My ProPride hitch is scheduled to be delivered today. So, I've got my projects lined up for the weekend & next week After I get inspected & registered, I think I'm going to go by an RV place in Houston, and get them to look over all the systems (brakes, etc...), just for my piece of mind before we start hitting the roads! Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Scott t
