Does anyone know what model furnace came in the 66 Tradewind. I am trying to determine if the one that we have is original or how old it is. We took it out and replaced all the gaskets, thermocouple,electrode, orifice. Cleaned all the soot out of it and reinstalled. We turned it on, the pilot lit the first time and it heated very well. After about 10 minutes the pilot went out. I pushed the ignitor to get it lit again and all of a sudden it blew the gaskets right out of the door in the front!

Can somebody tell me what might have caused this? Is this furnace too old to even use? It looks to be in very good shape.

You get a gold star for trying to rejuvinate your old unit but furnaces are nothing to take chances with.....as you have found out!

Do yourself a favor.....spend the bucks and buy a new unit with DSI (direct spark ignition) and no more pilot light! P*L*E*A*S*E

You'll be a happy camper

Thanks for the reply, I figured that's what we would have to do! Any idea where the best place would be to find a good deal on a furnace?

I purchased an NT-30 with DSI for around $325 (I think) from Palomino (800-297-5830) a couple of years ago. You can do a search to find out more. they're a division of Forest River.
