Is there a drain for the AC?

I thought I read somewhere about a drain for the AC unit. Does this exist and if so would it be in a mote under the unit or does the AC unit drain pan feed directly into this drain some how?

On at least the newer models, there is a drain tube in the ceiling/wall of the trailer and it exits at the bottom, draining the water on the ground.

True of the older models too. That's exactly how our '72 drains.

There's been a drain tube in most models since about the mid 1960's or so. Now, whether your aftermarket a/c will hook up to it is another question.

Yes but where is the drain and how do I clean it out. I am sure it is there but how do I get to it to clean it. I am going to replace the shroud so this is the perfect time to do it. I believe the unit is the original 1981 Coleman unit. A Mach 3 it is called.

The AC drain on my '72 exits in the street side wheel well. When I was replacing the rear floor, I found that the tube had shrunk and was no longer protruding through the wheel well.

I know it can be done from the top, should be able to find it with the shroud off, 'bout a 3/8" black tube, but all I do is set the compressor regulator at 20psi and blow thru the drain at the outlet under the streetside middle. Usually at spring get ready and mid-season.

As an aside...although it's not a huge big deal, I just hate to see water from the AC condensation dripping on the tire... so I bought a 2' length of clear plastic hose that slips over the drain tube so I can direct the drip away from the tire. I covered the end of the tube with a small piece of an old nylon stocking and secured it with a hose camp so no critters can crawl up inside it. I periodically flush and clean that hose out because over time the nylon accumulates scum, etc.

Anyone have a photo of where it comes out on top? I know mine is not working. I am going to be up there anyway I thought I would take a look at the top end of the tube so I know that is at least hooked up.

The drain line is between the inner and outer skins. This is how it looked on my original Armstrong unit.

Ok cool so I can access it from the inside if I take the inside stuff off. That helps a lot.

my drain did not work anymore,every time i turned on the ac it would start dripping inside,,did not want to take everything apart so i put in a new plastic pipe,re rooted it towards the door,over the sink and down( in between the wall)and since it works just fine and drains very well...it is sort of a home remedy...professionals would probably raise a eyebrow!!!!

It is not uncommon for certain insects to find one end or the other of that tube and make it their home. If you can get to either end and poke a suitable probe into the tube, you may break loose the clog and then as previously suggested, use some low pressure air to blow it out.

I used to wonder about my old AC drainage on to the roof. I even tried to ream out the drain hose. When I replaced the AC last year I discovered I had an aftermarket AC that was never set up for the drain. I put a Coleman Mach 1 in (12500 btu). It is not set for drainage into the tube. After some condensate showing up by the door I realized this would need to be remedied.

I thought I had it done by draining the inside pan--WRONG! There are two drain points on the Coleman. I will need to mark the roof at both drains, pull up the AC (may have to buy a new gasket when I do that), drill two holes, run a tube to each drain, make a connection, T the two drains then hook up the drains. In additon to grommets and sealing the hole it should be a piece of cake

I am not looking forward to this. I still wonder how much the bead ofsikaflex I ran over the awning rail had to do with the channeling, when I removed the bead, water went through the rail and ran down the side as it had in the past. Probably time for some Acyl-R in all of the seems.

A bit off subject, you can skip this part (rant)--- but I just saw the news as I write this, and two articles stood out----1 Big manufacturers hiring illegals, and 2 the kids coming back from the war are well over 11 % unemployed. A significant number though not all, businesses - sure don't mind making these kids pay for their businesses right to operate, but the kids are then garbage when they want a job. An illegal will help corporate profits. A Vet especially an injured one; vs corporate profits---sorry vets but the million dollar VP bonus is far more important... Makes me sick! I see some of these kids at VA, many of them will keep on paying for others---for the rest of their lives. To those that have the opportunity, please give one of these kids a break (I should not say kids, but I am over 60 so give me that break)

I noticed this news more than some because I just had two discs removed (third cervical spine operation---second that is a two procedures for one slice) due to an old service injury that deteriorated more and more over time---this time I got some titanium armor! I am not a hero or anything like that---I got hurt stateside -- just that a bad day in the airborne, tends to be a really bad day, thankfully most of those days were very good days.

I know I will get my Airstream flagpole brace replaced so I can once again-fly the flag Inland Andy gave me.

Back on subject--I apologize to those that are offended by this sort of rant as it is out of place as well as off subject - something of the moment - and will not happen again.

When installing an AC, investigate the drains location so you can fabricate a connection.The drain hose is there, between the skins, even w/o a factory installed AC. The only draw back to my AC is that it is taller than the previous unit...but then my Yamaha 2800 powers it with amps left over.

I know this is an ancient thread but seemed an appropriate place to post my question.

I have a 2019 Globetrotter 27 FBQ with two AC units.

I believe my AC drain is clogged and will attempt to blow it out today with air from my Viair air compressor that I bought to fill tires (hopefully that will work).

My question is, since there are two AC units should I have one drain line or two?

They are not necessarily in the wheel well. Mine are not. All I have seen have been on the street side aligned with the AC unit. If there is window in the alignment, the tube will go to one side of the window. The tubes should be very obvious hanging below a couple inches.

You would have two. If you find them you can use and air compressor to blow air from the bottom end to clean out the line. You should be able to see the top end by removing the inside air box cover to expose the opening where the pipe comes out.
