Air conditioning problems

On vacation with a two month old 30 ft flying cloud. Both ac's were running but have shut down. I have reset thermostat. I have unplugged thermostat cable. I have reset all breakers. I have killed all power from pedestal and reset. Ac's will not work. Thermo shows only zone one(rear ac) and inside temp shows 0 degrees when it is at least 85(I'm in destin, fl for goodness sake). Thermo only recognizes the cool, fan and off position for zone one. It does not recognize the hp or furnace. It also does not recognize zone two at all. The rear ac will occasionally attempt to run for a few seconds and will immediately cycle off. I'm really bummed out. Any thoughts to get the ac going? It's hot!

i may have had the same issue. it turned out to be a wet connector in the inside shroud area. there are two right next to each other. dry one at a time to not mix up the wires.

I have a just over one year old 27' Flying Cloud that the AC went out on. I doubt that I have even used the AC more than a half dozen times in that first year. I've been told by an AS dealer/shop I contacted on the road, that AS has had lots of problems with the Dometic AC units installed on these models, and this particular dealer has replaced many of them. Apparently there is no other repair than a complete replacement of the unit, even though it appears the compressor is not cycling on. If there are known problems, why wasn't there a recall? I paid way to much to have systems fail after only a year. Not very happy at this point!

While in Las Vegas and one of the rare events that we have HEAT and access to 30 amp RV park power... to actually use the AC... it died. When it died, it began with a hot electrical smell and the AC compressor would try to cycle on and after a second or two... and only the fan continued to operate. I shut it down.

After some time I started the AC up and the compressor would temporarily start, fan would blow cooler air... the compressor would shut down.

Returning home I began to hunt down the source of the problem(s) and Lewster has been very helpful. I am making time to get back on top, and follow some instructions to jump the K-5 120 volt line soon.

Two major parts of our AS quit... the Dometic fridge and the Dometic AC. I am happy that they do not make the tires, wheel bearings and furnance... I would not be able to afford an AS just because of the poor accessories.

My AC did the same thing while in Florida during June a couple years ago. The culprit was finally diagnosed as a bad mother board. Once installed, the AC has worked perfectly since.
