Regular Unleaded was $2.84 in Frisco, TX but in the last couple of days all the stations upped it it $2.99.
Are we starting to head back up?

Who cares? You're beating a dead horse. You can't control it, you can only hope to contain it. Enjoy it while it lasts because you know it's going up sometime. Either way it should keep you from what love.... Travel!
Anybody going to be in the eastern Sierra next week? (Bishop Area)

It is going back up!
It had been $2.939.
Now it is $2.979.
Bummer- I was hoping it would continue to go down.

In Glasgow, Scotland petrol is £1.30 a litre which works out at $9.34 a gallon. Think your selfs lucky.

How do they justify a price that high? Are the refining costs higher? I doubt it, plus you surely can import it cheaper than that.
So, is it just a tax, to keep driving to a minimum? To reduce pollution?
$9.34 a gallon would be a problem here. We are just too spread out..

Parts of the Highlands and Islands pay more than that. The dream is that all the tax will go to Scotland if independence happens. No chance of that so we are stuck with these prices ( this is with £0.02 off a litre ).

I'd really like to go to a diesel, but the price difference is too much.
Plus my last three Toyotas have run to 250,000 miles without a hiccup.
Will they ever fix it? It's cheaper to make diesel, right?

As a former geologist for 25 years I can tell you diesel will never be cheap again when it is in such worldwide demand. It powers all those container ships bringing in your spinach from South America, all those China, India, and thousands of other globally produced things we Americans buy.
We export diesel and liquified natural gas.
Can we fix it? Yes. Buy local when possible.

Thanks, I try.. Guess I'll never get to drive a diesel. I can't justify a 20% price differential..

Once you drive one, it will become much easier to justify. The fuel economy and available torque are definite opinion changers. My Sprinter and BMW X5 are diesel and would have them no other way. For automotive use, the smaller 4 cylinder diesel, that most domestic, european and asian manufactures are bring to market, also deliver fuel economy but each owner will have to 'run the numbers' to see if the return on fuel savings justifies the more expensive initial investment and additional fuel costs. I like the fact that a diesel engine, just because of the higher compression requirements of the present generation diesel engines, has to be built more substantially. While gas engined vehicles do not have the robustness of a diesel because of the lower compression ratios. Also, all manufacturers are looking to lighten their vehicles for CAFE (corporate average fuel economy) requirements. This also includes the engines. There have really lightened the gas motors up but the diesels have to be strong because of compression ratios. So in the justification process one should also determine if they plan on having the vehicle for a real long time, as I do, or are planning to not have it for a shorter time.
Drive one..you will like it.
