Trucker Airstreamers

I know there are many of you who are or were truckers of one sort or another. Your an asset to these forums.....what a knowledge base!

This past week end I went to the Great American Trucking Show.....The Convention for Trucking Professionals in Dallas Texas. What a great time! I went to search out info on Air Conditioning systems to be used within Vintage Airstream (Curtis Wright) projects. Not only did I find lots of that info...but, polishing, batteries, tires, LED lighting, polishes, on the road nutrition, internet on the road, TV access, overnighting, and of all things....Wall Mart parking. ..........does all this sound familiar?

So, ask the truckers and search out your solutions.

I really liked the food, music, give aways and the ever present Convention Girls in the booths. Check it out your self.

We can learn a lot by straying off the conventional path.

Trucking is just another form of mobility. Try Boat Shows as well. There are intriguing ideas here and the products are often better made than the stuff meant for RVers.

Been a few years since I made that show, but, like other shows oriented towards those making a living there are indeed products that are both ingenious and well-made. The same cannot always be said for truck stops despite large inventories at some as the company driver is but an employee and the GATS attendee tends to be a business owner (owner-operator or lease operator as the case may be); the market isn't big enough for something on the order of, say, WEST MARINE and their giant catalogs.

Truck supply is, however, the place to go for SAFETY related items (along with police supply) for on-the-road equipment: chains, tarps, straps, chocks, flares and other signalling devices, etc.

I replaced the clearance lights on my S/S with l.e.d. pieces exactly like the oem ones from a truck discount house.
