Camped at Munising last summer no trouble with my 24 and super crew F150. Pictured Rocks is worth it. Copper Harbor is also worth a visit.

Pardon me for the hijack, but does Key West have a mileage sign for Copper Harbor?

Your route is taking you close to Toronto. If you decide to visit I suggest you look at Bronte Creek Provincial Park in Oakville (suburban Toronto on the west side). It's a decent park with excellent access to downtown Toronto via the GO train (about a 10 to 15 minute drive from the park with free parking).

I second the recommendations for Air Force Museum and Armstrong museum, if anyone in your family is at all aviation interested. This area is like Mecca for plane buffs, and all around Dayton are many Aviation Heritage sites. Also, Cincy has many great museums if you want some city time. The Cincinnati Zoo is world class, the museums at Union Terminal are awesome, and the modern art museum is impressive as well. Kings Island and Cedar Point have world class roller coasters and good camping nearby. All is within an easy drive of JC, but to see everything worthwhile in that one area would take many days.

Try Door County

We made the Lake Superior trip last summer and spent a week in Door County, WI, en route. It is great and very oldtimey family friendly.
