Tire Monitoring System Recommendations
I’m looking to install a tire monitoring system on my ‘91 Excella. I’m looking at these on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/EEZ-RV-PRODUC...70_&dpSrc=srch. I’d really appreciate any recommendations.
Thanks You,
Vickie

I love this one Dill Trailer TPMS
http://dillaircontrols.com/dill/cate.../trailer-tpms/
You may need to replace your valve stems to metal ones if you go with the type that mount on the valve stem so this can be more economical and can't be stolen.

👍
We got the EZtire...pressure & temp. The dash monitor stayed charged on 4day trip, the sensors have replaceable coin batteries and will stop transmitting when removed to extend use.
I use them w/o the anti-theft collar. (less weight)👍

Tire Minder Smart TPMS
We just got the Tire Minder Smart TPMS. It uses 433mhz to transmit to a 433 mhm Bluetooth adaptor that let's you monitor on your phone vs having a separate monitor on your windshield or dash. We used it on a 300 mile trip and it worked great. Worked great. It doesn't show all four tire temps and pressures at once, but can be set in an auto scroll mode that scrolls through each tire.
I mounted the booster on the frame near the battery box and used the alligator clips to power it up by clipping to the "+" and "-" on one of my batteries. I am thinking about hooking it up into the system that powers when you hook up the 7 way to your Tow Vehicle. That way it is only on when you are towing.

Don't know about that brand. i use the TST system, and have been very happy with it. Batteries have lasted three years now, and have used on regular tire stems. No problem with distance, continual reading.

For that price on Amazon you can buy the TST system WITH the color monitor.
https://www.greatrvproducts.com/onli...hoCu2gQAvD_BwE
It's where I got mine, they shipped quickly and the product was the same as everyone else who charged more. (sometimes $100 more!)
TST seems to offer the best customer service, and Mike Benson is on this forum often.
I'm starting to think all the systems use the same parts outsourced from some assembly line in China, so I stuck with one offering customer service.
(and the color monitor is pleasing)

Lots of options out there.
I personally prefer the systems that have external sensors so I can change the batteries as preventative maintenance annually. I do not lock the sensors on so I can remove easily to add air when needed. Understand that the temperature measuring aspect of these sensors is relative only. You can see if one tire is getting hotter than the rest.
Metal shorty stems are best to avoid deflection.
There are many systems out there to choose from and you will have to make a personal choice. There are often folks selling them at the larger rallies and you can get a decent deal and an install.
Lots of threads here that may help you;

I originally used the Tireminder with dedicated monitor but found that the transmitters, even with the booster, couldn’t always reach the monitor. It seemed to take a very long time to update the fields.
I just started using the Zeepin TPMS (Amazon...$50.00). So far I like it. It updates virtually instantaneously. Installation was much easier with dedicated labelled caps. Doesn’t beep annoyingly when the tow vehicle is separated from the trailer, simply keeps the last data until in close proximity again, and it was a WHOLE lot cheaper. Question is how long will it last. Nice feature is that the monitor on the dash is solar powered so no wires anywhere.

Just to add to the list of choices...
I use the Bellacorp system. It's available from Bellacorp or on Amazon. It has worked very well and I have interacted with the company and found their customer support to be outstanding.

I purchased the Tire Tracker just before we left for our trip. So far 4600 miles and no problems. I like being able to check tire pressure every time before we hit the road with it. Easy instructions to follow and comes with a lithium battery.

I had a TST that I used with my 2015 Ram 2500. It worked OK, but I really did not like all its noisy buzzing. When I got my 2018 Ram 3500, I bought an EEZ RV, which I like better, but it did not work alone --- it required the repeater booster, at $65 more.

I've had a TST system is somewhat less than four years. It's generally been okay but once in awhile one of the senders drops out for no apparent reason but reconnects later with no intervention from me.
This summer in the middle of an 11,000 mile tour the display went nuts (it displayed all the wheels at the same time with meaningless numbers for various lengths of time). It was out of warranty by about six months. The guy I spoke with at TST to diagnose it said he'd never encountered such a failure but he concluded the monitor was toast. I would have bought a replacement but all I could find was complete systems with senders (no surprise) and I didn't think I needed new ones so I decided to wait until I could buy only the monitor. We kept what we had connected and turned it off as needed. Eventually it fixed itself!!? It's still in service but I'm carrying a spare.
I change the sender batteries every year and I'm very careful about cleaning and lubing the O-rings. I have flow-through senders that don't need to be removed to manually check the pressure. I would not buy that kind again.

Is it common to have to replace the batteries in a TPMS? We have two 2008 vehicles with internal TPMS and have never changed the batteries in either of them. Or do the ones used on a trailer use more power because they're farther from the receiver?

I have had 10 years of trouble free operation with PressurePro. With my long 57" rig I use thier booster with excellent results. They claim thier senders are 100% accurate. The only one I have replaced did not survive my dog chewing it. It still worked, but the electronis were showing. So I replaced it.

The internal sensors are rated to last 5-7 years.
Eventually you'll have to replace them and that will require a tire store.
The external sensors are good for a year and the batteries are cheap and easy to replace.
The TPMS people seem to be getting away from the internal except for trucks and they are the band type that strap on the rim.

Tpms
We looked for about 6 months,
There are several very good units out on the market. After the Hershey RV show for our Airstream a TST system came home. We appreciate the help with the factory rep at the TechnoRV booth.
Regardless, we believe any good TPMS system is mandatory. Airstream should consider installing a system as standard equipment like most of the automotive industry has already done.

Goodyear Endurance tires on Airstream
I have had two (both) Goodyear Endurance tires fail on my 2014, 20’ Flying Cloud. I bought the tires new in May and with less than 1000 miles blow outs. Has anyone had similar tire failure?

I have TST. I just upgraded to the color monitor. The system is very reliable and accurate. Overall their customer service has been phenomenal.
