RV trip planner
Ive looked at several RV trip planner apps and havent found one where you can;
A. Input a basic route including current location and destination
B. input the number hours (or miles) per day i would like to drive
C. Then gives me options on where to camp along the way
I may not be using the apps correctly, which is probably the case. Ive downloaded several free apps but wanted to find one that will accomplish the tasks mentioned above before i commit to purchase. I assume there are some apps out there that will perform these functions. Any recommendations on an app that will specifically perform the functions mentioned.
Thanks for your help folks, i appreciate your patience.

I have never heard of an app so comprehensive, but maybe someone reading this will develop one.
The Allstays Camp & RV app is pretty thorough, in terms of campgrounds and services. We also use the Passport America and CampWhere apps.
If you find something like what you are looking for, let us know.

I use Microsoft Street and Trips for that. You can create a profile that uses a lower speed for your rig, then you can impose a boundary around your starting time of the number of minutes you want to drive. Finally, you can display categories of POI's within a defined radius of a location. But, this is a PC program for planning, not an App for use on the road.

That program has been discontinued by Mircosoft, replaced by Bing Maps, which IS available as an iPhone/iPad app as well as a computer program. I've never tried Bing Maps, being an Android tablet user and all, so I can't tell you if it does the same things the same way. It may be better, it may be worse, so don't get rid of Streets and Trips until you know. But for new users who don't have Streets and Trips, Bing Maps may be the best bet.

Big data
DW uses Allstays, its ok, sometimes it helps. It has a lot of information.
I have a couple old woodalls books laying around I look at and check here and I check online before leaving to see what is around on the way.
Not one go to source, yet
have a good one,

I haven't yet made any trips where my destination was too far to drive in one day, but my second post-retirement trip in January will be one where I'll be in transit two days one-way.
My plan there is:
1 - Plot my route on Google Maps.
2 - Figure out approximately where I want to stop the first night.
3 - Check Allstays Camp and RV on my Android tablet to find an affordable campground to stop at for the intermediate overnight stop.
4 - While I'm on Allstays, check Allstays Truck and RV to find places to stop for diesel along my route. Truck stops being what they are, they can usually serve as food stops, too, if I'm not too picky about the food.
5 - Go back to Google Maps to plug in my selected intermediate stops as waypoints and see how that affects my route.
6 - Print out the final route from Google Maps to carry in the vehicle for reference, and use the printout to program enough waypoints into my GPS to ensure the GPS is telling me to go where I want to go, and not where it wants me to go.
It sounds more complicated than it really is. I can usually plan the whole route for a one-day drive in half an hour or so, but it can take that long again to program all of the waypoints into the GPS.

You can't beat stopping, opening the fridge and making your own lunch. Tastes better and can be way healthier.

Given that my Interstate only has a dinky 3.1cf fridge, I prefer not to fill it with munchies for the drive; I prefer to use my limited refrigerator space for food I'll use at the campsite.
Plus as a solo traveler, eating alone in the RV after driving alone for several hours seems kind of antisocial. Getting a restaurant meal along the way is a way of maintaining essential human contact. I'm not entirely a hermit, you know!

Well thats kinda the way i have been looking at it but i was hoping there was some app where it was all inclusive where i wouldnt have to switch back and forth between a campground app and google maps. Something where i could give a start and end location, what major route i would be taking. Then some type of mileage input per day, then presto, campgrounds within a 15 mile radius of the end of the days drive.

The campground apps are also maps, you know, although you can't put your route on there,

I've always used the Microsoft Streets & Trips program going back to our first trip in 2001. Did not know that it is now discontinued.

Bing maps?
Protagonist,
I took a look at Bing maps and I do not see that it has those capabilities, at least not clearly. It may be that it is too robust and/or that as a web-based app its main purpose is the database. I would not use a mapping program where I had to have an internet connection, too hard to be sure of getting one with enough bandwidth in campgrounds. I use Streets and Trips, which you can still buy, though not updated and Allstays at home for planning and I use my Garmin on the road. I have Allstays on my smartphone but I have yet to need it on the fly.

I did a google search on road trips in general (auto oriented) and it seems that this idea has been discussed quite a bit. The idea of being able to input a daily mileage goal with accomodation options at the end of your day. Several forums popped right up with people asking for the exact same idea. Looked like some designers chimed in and spoke of various tech issues prohibitting this type of service. Hmmmmm, and i thought it already exsisted somewhere out there in app land. Apparently not. I guess i can poke and hope on google maps till i find something in the driving range i want, identify a town, then switch to an RV app and input that town and it will give options. Thanks for all the great ideas and input though folks. Love it.

I listen to "Living the RV Dream" podcast by John and Cathy Huggins.
They recently had a review of several RV specific route planning and campsite apps for IOS. Several did what you are requesting but I don't remember the specific names of the Apps that were recommended.
You might check out their website livingthervdream.com and see if you can find more info.
