Visit Grand Canyon

We're hoping to add in a 2-day visit to the Grand Canyon in Sept on our way back from Nevada in a 30 ft classic. The Campground has space available, but says only allows 27 ft. Is this something we're going to run into....only our 2nd year camping.

Airstream measurements include the tongue. Most other RV's don't. Congratulations on your new "27" foot Airstream.

Today is a gift, that's why they call it the present.

All of the campgrounds I saw on the Website say 30' limit.

Regardless, after Labor Day, you should be able to find a site that will easily accommodate a 27' Airstream.

I suspect you're talking about Mather, which does have length limitations. (Our 30' would have been a pretty tight fit there, too.) We stayed next door at Trailer Village, which doesn't have the limitations ... and has full hook-ups.

Be prepared, it will be very crowded still.... Tons of foreigners.... But still awesome. Good luck.

I'd guess he (or she) is talking about Mather, as well. I was van camping there earlier this year. It seemed like the entire campground is shaded by tall pines (ponderosas?), and was quite pleasant. A few elk wandered through as we were preparing to leave the last morning, and I almost walked into a antlered elk earlier that morning, walking to the restrooms. Many of the pull-through sites there are the curved (jug-handle) type ones, along curving loop roads. I felt like I had a hard time getting the van to navigate in and out while remaining upon the pavement; I can't imagine trying with a long trailer.

We stayed at Grand Canyon boondocking. We came up from the south on hwy 64 then if you come to Tusayan in the roundabout FR302 lots of boondocking sites to the right. This is not very far from the gate. This intersects Hwy 64 from the S. Turn R on FR 302..numerous sites. Survive about 3/4 road of washboard and wonderful..lots of will hear the helicopters for tours overhead..but we enjoyed our stay.

Thanks I'll try Trailer Village. You have some spectacular photos.
