RV/MH Museum Elkhart IN

We stopped at this museum yesterday - we've driven by there many times, but were never thinking about it until we saw it, missed the exit, and drove by. This time, we planned to stop. However, stopping at the eastbound rest stop on Rt 80, there is no info to be had which will confirm the exit #. No one we asked there had any idea where the museum was, so you have to be ready. The only sign is at the exit itself, which is #96. The result- well worth it! The collection of RV's and travel trailers has to be unmatched anywhere. From the 10' A/S prototype for the Euro market (which Byam decided not to build) through the 42' Spartan monster, there is an incredible assemblage. I liked the Clark Eqpt motorhome from around 1970, and Becky liked the Yellowstone trailer from '54. The trailers from the 30's were beautiful and luxurious for their day. It was inspirational to see how so much of our modern trailer has elements that were innovated in the past - not that much has changed in basic design! Components have been improved, and finishes have changed, but it makes the idea of taking an older trailer and restoring it for use today perfectly logical.
If you're headed across Indiana, you owe yourself a visit to the RV/MH museum.
