This is interesting. Looking at their website they make a the step ladder in both a 1.7M and 2.3M lengths. The folded lengths are almost the same 67cm compared to 71cm and the weights are about 4kg apart. Does anyone know how deep they are when folded. The spec says they are width is about 60cm but does not talk about depth (folded)

I use a ladder all the time while on the road as I like to keep the trailer clean as possible - so it gets washed regularly. Right now I'm using a 3-step folding step stool but find its not high enough to get the end caps clean.
I know I'm short.....

Anyway, just wondering if the 1.7 or 2.3 would be best and also does anyone know were one can purchase these in Canada or the USA as I see this is a European site

Thanks

Doug

I got mine at Amazon after reading on another thread where Lewster mentioned his.

This one, Telesteps 10ES:

Unfortunately, that one is temporarily out of stock at Amazon. It's not long enough to use to climb up on the roof, but long enough reach the roof.

I bought this ladder from Amazom and it is a good multi-purpose ladder that doesn't take up much space when stored. I have used it to get on the roof several times by having 3 sections straight and the 4th at a 90deg angle. I put a 2x2 across the end and padded it. It is long enough to spread load across two roof supports.

Neiko® 01995 Folding Aluminum Ladder, 12.5-Ft Extended | 300 Lbs. Capacity

Sorry, didn't know how to paste a link.

That is also what I keep in my rear storage compartment. Pricy but sturdy.

With the overall height of the typical Airstream trailer under 10ft would the Telestep 3.3m model (10.8') overall length be too short or is the 3.8m model advised (12.5').

I would guess that depends on use and preference. If I were getting one, I'd go with 12.5' so there would be something to hold on to at the top of the ladder with one hand while doing work with the other hand.

Others might prefer the 10.8' so nothin gets in their way (and since you'd never need more than 7' or so to access the roof anyway).

For safety, a ladder that extends above the roof is better. It gives you the opportunity to grab hold of the ladder before you step onto it.

Handy hint, you also want the base of the ladder far enough away from the Airstream for stability, and a longer ladder makes that easier. OSHA and CoE say one foot out for every four feet up, but there's an easy way to tell without measuring. When you're setting up the ladder, put your feet right between the ladder's feet. Then reach straight forward. The ladder should be at an angle that lets you grip the ladder side rails with your arms almost fully extended. If you have to lean forward to grip the ladder, the angle is too shallow. If you can lean backwards while holding the ladder so you'd fall back if you let go, the angle is too steep.

I bought the 12 foot because it was on sale for almost half the cost of the 10 foot. Happy with that size. It has come in handy at the house a couple of times and the extra length allows me to angle the ladder out a bit further from the trailer and gives me a better hand hold. It is rock solid and very secure extended full length or partially open.

Anyone have the Extend & Climb or other telescoping ladder brands shown in Amazon. Are the Telesteps made in Europe or China like the other brands?

Pretty sure they're made in Sweden, by Telesteps AB. As anyone who drives a Saab or Volvo will tell you, "Made in Sweden" is not a condemnation.

However, Lynn Peavey Co. in the US also claims to hold the worldwide patents and is listed as the GSA source for US Government procurement.

The Swedish and US Telesteps ladders appear to be identical as near as I can tell. So who really holds the patents is a mystery to me. But either way, at least they're not from China!
