Found a good ladder

If anyone is looking for a nice sturdy ladder, Costco has one that is better than I've found at 3 other stores: Camping World, Home Depot and Orchard Supply Hardware all have ladders but this one is better than the other portables because it is real sturdy. 300 lbs rating. The legs extend to a longer length and the ladder can be locked into straight mode to make it long enough to get to the roof of a house. I'm lucky enough to have a hatch to put it in but it might not fit a hatch that's shorter than about 5 feet.

I weigh about 250-260 lbs and this ladder feels very solid.

Hope this helps someone else who's still looking for a nice ladder.

Dave

Dave,

Are you a Cosco Sales Representative? Your presentation makes me want to run out and buy one right now! Maybe even two!

Seriously, it looks like it would work quite well for polishing the vintage Airstream trailers. Thanks for the suggestion.

I bought one of these during a Home Show here in St. Louis. The brand was Little Giant.

Here is a link to Amazon that shows the one I have. I've had mine for about 5 years. I extend it to its top height so I can easily wash the roof of my A/S.

It's not cheap but it is good quality. Has a lot of add on components you can buy for special applications.

load rating

Looks good but it's load rated at 225. I'm just north of that by 5 pounds or so and if I keep drinking the Guinness like I have I won't be losing any.

<G> I guess it does look like a sales pitch but I have no connection with Costco except that I recently got a membership.

I was looking for a sturdier ladder for a little while and was inside shopping at Costco and they just happen to have the best one I could find that would fit in a compartment. Don't know how long they'll keep this model in stock. It just goes to show that Costco seems to have better stuff some times but not necessarily a better selection.

It was $129.99 in the Bay Area. The store I bought it at was at Hwy 101 and Rengstorff Ave

According to the reciept it was part # 363735 (17' Ladder).

Thumbs up Great ladder

Bought one earlier this year before purchase of Airstream... my hubby found it great for getting up to the roof of the trailer . Plus it very good for other household chores.. and great for polishing the GMC truck.. used as a scaffold.. Annie

I use a 12' Green Bull it has a platform oyu can stand on, and extra wide stance so it is very sturdy. Best for the Airstream I have found....but does not fold up to go with you however.

Apparently these specific models on Amazon are not the newest style. The one's I just saw from the same manufacturer at the most recent home show have been upgraded to heavier weight capacities. The government has changed weight limitations on class II ladders so I think they are rated to carry up to 300 lbs. now.

I saw same ladder at either Lowes or Home Depot. It was called the gorilla ladder. Price was more like $225.

Only problem, it hadn't been clear coated.
