New Mexico Water Help

We are heading to Black Canyon Campground, a National Park in Santa Fe. Their water faucets require a special fitting so that you can attach your hose. Does anyone know what the fitting is? Thanks

It's called a water thief. If you get one, also buy a radiator clamp to hold it on to the faucet. I've seen them at Camping World, among other places. I have two!

I knew someone here would be able to help. I didn't want to haul water from Texas to the New Mexico.

If you're running through Albuquerque, the Camping World is just to the West off of the 40, easy off and on...
We found small stainless hose clamps with a hand knob for no tools use at our local auto store...Have fun, love Santa Fe-

Here's a pic of a rubber water thief...the unthreaded end goes over the threadless water bib and then you can connect your hose to the threaded end. A pipe clamp is handy to keep it in place while you fill your tank. Most of the places in arid areas that don't have threaded water sources aren't really keen on you attaching a hose and filling your fresh water tank with their water. That's why they don't have threaded bibs. We carry the water thief but have never actually used it. In campgrounds where there is no place to connect a hose we usually end up schlepping water in 7 gal containers and filling our fresh water tank manually. Thank gawd it's only a 20 gallon tank!

I've never seen anything like this.... you get a site with hookups, but they don't want you to use thier water?

The non-threadable bibs are usually in campgrounds where there are no hookups...in a dry camping situation, usually... water is available, but not at each of the sites...

If you have a site with hookups, there will no doubt be threaded spigots for your use.
