They missed the true center of the universe when they set down the coordinates. It is actually to the west in Spokane.

Driving Lookout and 4th of July passes should not be a big issue. Pipestone pass into Butte is a tougher climb and descent. With daughters who went to U of M in Missoula and Montana State in Bozeman, we have driven this road many many times.

Lots of beautiful scenery along the way and the Hiawatha trail is worth doing if you have the time and the inclination.

So there seems several opinions as to the whereabouts of the Center of the Universe. Tulsa, Oklahoma, has also staked a claim.

The railroad museum and the mining museum are both worth a visit. Old Red Eye is on display in his coffin at the mining museum. That's the last traffic light on the route of I 90 between Boston and Seattle. Parched throats can be treated at Wallace Brewing. Neat little town, friendly locals.

If you should choose to stop in Wallace and you find yourself there around dinner time, you might consider trying the Fainting Goat. Really outstanding food and very reasonable prices.
