Gettin' to the water

We spent a few days in the southern Black Hills. Here are a few pictures of our commute from the camp to a small lake where we could splash around with the Kayaks.

Great shots.

Is that sign in the third picture a favorite for those driving 31 footers?

The water looks like a great place to wind down from a white knuckle drive -- assuming it was a challenge.

Nice pictures. My favorite place to stay in the hills is Hill City. I have a friend who lives near there on the creek. All of my camping there has been in motorhome and motorcycle pull behind camper. I like to campground at Spearfish during the rally. It's just a turn and one hill to be in Spearfish canyon and a 15 minute ride down to Sturgis. Quieter too. I'd drown myself in that kayak. We camped at Gunflint Lodge in Minnesota boundary waters one summer and paddled a canoe all the way across Gunflint lake. Scared the crap outa me.

Eastern South Dakota is very pretty with hills, rivers, and trees.

The pictures were fun to set up. I dropped my wife off and then we used radios to get staged. The tricky part was finding a place to turn around so she didn't have to walk back. People sure look at you funny when you pull into a small parking lot towing a 31 footer and make a u turn! The lake is called Center Lake in Custer State Park. It's off the beaten path and only takes reservations on the day of arrival so we had no problem getting a nice spot. One of out favorite places to camp is just off Spearfish Canyon at Hanna Campground. No services just a nice little creek running beside your camper.
