Enjoy a Quick 1400 mile trip
Left Corpus Christi, circled the Big Bend area and returned. Enjoy an 8 picture trip with us....
Cave paintings in Seminole Canyon, and the sun hitting our trailer there.
Vintage kin in Terlingua, and a sunrise there.
Typical road signs in the area and a way cool rest stop on the Rio Grande.
Newest Junior Ranger at Ft Davis (home of the Buffalo Soldiers) and finally back to green grass in Kerrville.
8 awesome days...I guess we knew it had to end, but I sure did not want it to...

Thanks for the pictures and mini tour. The West Texas area around Big Bend, Alpine, Marfa & Fort Davis is always a fun trip for us. Have made that trip several times, but it has been about 3 years since our last trip. Cannot wait to get back again.

Sorry I missed this earlier.
Did you run FM-624 (Leopard Street) to Cotulla, thence Del Rio, and then follow the river north and around?
Recommend it in future.
Lunch at:
Don Marcelino Restaurant
1110 Veterans Blvd, Del Rio, TX 78840
(830) 775-6242
The Devils River Rec Area is also on my list.

Looks like a great trip!
What brand is that vintage kin trailer? Doesn't look like an Airstream, is it?
Kinda looks like an old Barth, if they made trailers.
Ask me how I know---our first RV was a 77 Barth. Great grandma-and-grandpa-mobile. A breadbox on wheels, we called it. This has that same square-ish look.

This time we went up 37 and peeled off at Pleasanton. Took 90 quite a ways but we did stop to eat in Del Rio. No idea where though...:-)

Thanks, I made sure the light hit it right. Get too close and she shows her age. :-)

An enviable trip, especially from my perspective, sitting here taking apart my Safari to do a floor replace. Can't wait to follow you around the bend.

You will get it done! Parked mine for a bit as well. Need to put in a new hot water heater, may as well put in new copper to all the propane things at the same time, fix one of my stabilizer jacks ...and on and on and....

My partner is from Del Rio and most of his family still lives there, so we've been many times. I can second the recommendation for Don Marcelino's, just don't tell your cardiologist.
A friend who's moved out of state is such a devotee that his family gets a bag of their guisado, bean & cheese tacos to take to the airport when they meet his flight! There are MUCH worse things to be hooked on.

My son finished his flight training in San Diego three years ago. I flew out there and we stayed near the border on the drive back all the way back here. First night in Bisbee, AZ at the Copper Queen Hotel, and second night at The Maverick Inn at Alpine, TX (recommend both). Lunch was at Don Marcellino on a tip from a long time Laughlin AFB employee.
FM-624 took us well over 100-miles from the Mexican border right to Corpus Christi Bay along Shoreline Drive . . then along Ocean Drive to the house. A minor detour for anyone coming to CC that shows the appeal of this city, historically and economically.
I only wish that there was good "Mexican" food in CC. Acceptable, yes, but not good.

Best chili relleno I ever had was in Del Rio, may have been at Don Marcellino's. Sounds very familiar! Now I am hungry!
