Denver Camping Help

Our daughter who lives in Denver is due to deliver our first grandchild any day now. They live around Colfax and Colorado Blvd and she'll deliver at the Rose Medical Center. We've stayed at the Bahr Lake Campground in the past and driven the 20 or so miles in but I was wondering if those of you living in Denver might know of somewhere to stay that might be closer.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Dakota Ridge RV Park, 17800 West Colfax, nicest we have found in the Denver area.

I'd second Dakota Ridge and add Clear Creek RV Park. Both are in Golden, about 25-30 minutes west from Rose Medical Center. Clear Creek is on the creek so it feels more like camping to me. Another idea, just south of Denver would be Cherry Creek Reservoir. I think it is a little closer to Rose. Also Prospect Park it's easy-on, easy-off I-70, about 7 or 8 minutes closer to Denver than Golden, but it's located in a more city-like setting - right on a major street (across from a truck stop). It does have nice facilities - but the surrounding area is not for the outdoorsy.

My two top choices to combine camping/vacation & accessibility to Rose Medical Center would be Clear Creek RV Park or Cherry Creek Reservoir.

Denver-proper doesn't have many other camping opportunities that I would consider. Happy birthing!

Shari

We have stayed at Chatfield State Park, which is beautiful; but it's about 24 miles away, in Littleton. Chatfield has great restrooms, showers and laundry facilities; and it's very secure. Cherry Creek Reservoir looks nice on Google Earth and is about 10 miles away, but we have never camped there. Either will be much better than Barr Lake, near Brighton.

You can cut and paste the GPS coordinates below into Google Earth or other mapping program to get an idea of the relative distances from Rose Medical Center to each campground, and to check the layouts:

Rose Medical Center: 39° 43.918'N 104° 56.026'W

Cherry Creek Reservoir (Campground Entrance): 39° 38.923'N 104° 50.600'W

Chatfield State Park (RV Registration Kiosk): 39° 32.295'N 105° 3.939'W

We've stayed at Dakota Ridge, and inside the RV park was fine. The setting was pretty urban and unwonderful, but it was the closest thing we could find to the Boulder area at the time.

How exiciting to have a new grandchild!

Thank you all for your helpful replies. As these things sometimes go, little Elsie Louise decided to come early and arrived on Sunday. We were packed and ready and booked a month at Bahr Lake prior to seeing any replies. We'll check out your suggestions while we're here.

Mom and baby are doing great and grandma and grandpa are...,well, we're just beaming!

Glad to see this as the Denver area is top of my list for a new place to live once I can escape South Texas. Lot's of places to visit and re-visit (my parents from Denver & Boulder). Have looked at RVParkReviews but not impressed, so glad to see recommendations.
