We will be making plans for a trip to the White Mountains in the near future. Keep us up to date on what days the campground fills up and we will make our plans accordingly.

Benny Creek

Photo 1 Jimmini at Benny Creek campcround.
Photo 2 Benny Creek from my EZ chair.

Benny Creek campground is like the campground you dream or think of when you want to go camping in the pines for real.It has 27 sites on 2 cinder loops. The camp sites for the most are large.I can turn my 29 ft trailer side ways. The fire rings are loose rock rings pilled on the ground. The tables are the old heavy wood type. The site spacing is not bad but I always want more room.
Benny creek campground is like the campgrounds I went to in the 1930s and 1940s.
The campground is on AZ state route 373 about 3 miles south off US 260 just before you get the"Award-winning Rolfe C Hoyer campground" as the old camping books say.More about that next time.

Darn, we passed very near you this morning. Could have stopped by had we known. Stayed at the High Country Campground in Clay Springs for four days. Most of our camping has been boon docking this year so we decided to go the luxery route.

The new Hoyer

The NEW Hoyer campground
(1) The new restrooms not a place to rest to long.
(2) How most camp sites are.
(3) How all camp sites should be.

This is what the camping books of the 1980's say"Rolfe C Hoyer is the campground after which all new campgrounds should be modeled. At least that seems to express the feeling of many who have been here.Located about a mile north of Greer along state route 373, Hoyer has flush toilets, showers and other conveniences of home.Combine that with the camp's proximity to the sophisticated little resort town of Greer, and you'll not have to miss out on any creature conforts"
I guess the NEW Hoyer is back to the future with its pit restrooms, gravel roads, and NO wast dispsal. But the raised camp sites sides are not for old folks to go up and down. The way it looks to me they will be washed out in a year or two and then they can do it all over again.
So come on all you Airstreamers come see me at a real campground Benny Creek.

31 feet no problem in most sites.Might be 1 or 2 that you would not want to user.I turn my 29 ft side ways in my sight #8.there is 5th wheel in site #9.A big motor home in #7 right now.
Campground has not been full even on week end that also goes for Hoyer.
I should leave on the 10th so if you hurry you might get the site I am in it is best one in campground. To bad you can not make it this week end I think Richard and Jan are comming up Thur.the 6th.

Benny Creek

For you lucky folk that are coming to Benny Creek campground to join Jan,Richard and I this week end remember when you are coming down 373 that when you cross Rosy and then Benny Creek slow down your left turn is 1 tenth of a mile past Benny Creek. If you miss it you can turn around at Hoyer campgroud 1/4th mile on down the road.

We will be back on Thursday evening. I am going to slide out of work a little early to beat the traffic. I've got my spot picked out. Here are a few pictures of the area. Jim has got a great group of Hummingbirds that swarm around his feeder all day long. It's fun to watch.

Don't forget to look up at night for the meteor shower!

Jim - I easily passed the test!

A hearty Thanks!!

Jim, Min, Richard and Jan,

Thanks for the great weekend! We surely enjoyed ourselves and it was quite nice to actually need to wear a jacket for a change. We look forward to the next chapter in Boondocking with Jimmini. Here are a few photos from the weekend.

#1. Richard and Jan... Richard do you receive endorsements from VTS?
#2. Goup shot at our campsite
#3. We tried to get all three units in one picture. You can see Jimmini off in the distance.
#4. Worn out squirrel hunters on the drive home.
