Best Campground Apps

We have used the CampWhere app for a couple of years, supplementing with hard copy Trailer Life and Passport America directories.

They are in the trash, we are again lighter & more space-efficient.........

Passport America now has an App! Free!

We have loved CampWhere for public campgrounds around the country. Have found very few errors.

We have added Allstays, highly recommended here. It duplicates some of CampWhere, but includes private campgrounds.

I use Allstays on my Android tablet. But since I'm a member of Passport America, I'll have to check out their Android app.

I use AllStays too and love it. Trip Advisor has campground reviews that I like - I can usually get a good sense of what the campground is like. ( ie privacy/ no privacy, quiet or rowdy, well maintained vs not etc)

AllStays Camp and RV hands down. Good Sam for quick ratings and area searches.

A feature I really like on the CampWhere app ($4.99), which is not available on Allstays ($9.99), is the ability to "star" sites on the map.

If you are looking for national forest sites with dump stations or other features, for example, you can locate and mark these ahead of time on your map.

And, then plan accordingly.

I have an iphone 4s and I just got a new ipad, but can't find "camp where" or "campwhere" in the app store. Am I doing something wrong? How would I find this app to download onto ipad???

Try using "Allstays" in the search and it'll come up.

Slightly off subject but in line with good Apps. A very informative blog to check out is Technomadia.com by Cherie Ve Ard &Chris Dunphy. They are tech wise fulltimers who write apps among other things. They have a very good publication about going nomadic, mobile internet, and state lines. Although they are not Airstreamers they are currently in a cool vintage bus.

Campwhere and Allstays are two separate and different apps.

I find Allstays in the app store easily, with camping search, but can't find CampWhere anywhere. i copied the link from my own app, which still works, BTW, and get a message that this item is not currently available in the USA.

You can access the same information at ALL US AND CANADA CAMPGROUNDS LOCATOR: STATE PARKS NATIONAL PARKS FORESTS MORE california oregon washington new york pennsylvania more

We use this almost every day when we are traveling.

It looks like The CampWhere app has been discontinued. It's no longer available on the App store and the folks who make it, bignerdranch.com, are not listing it on their website.

I use the Allstays app quite a bit, but it is not very comprehensive. I know of quite a few campground around here (Maine) that are not listed.

We have been using the Android App RVPARKY. We used it exclusively on our recent 9 week northeastern trip, and found it indispensable. It is also available as RV Parky | RV Parks & Campgrounds Directory, Reviews, Photos. This is the best campground app that we have ever used. We have thrown away our printed RV directory.

That is a great app, Brian! Very inclusive.

I loved pitching the bulky campground books, too.

No, seems to be Droid, only.

This app is also free.

I have downloaded it onto the phone, especially like that it includes places simply to park for the night, i.e. WalMart and others.

You might also try "Oh, Ranger! ParkFinder", a free iPhone app (unsure about other platforms). It allows you to 'select things to do' such as RVing, fishing, etc. to narrow down the list of federal, state, & local parks.

[QUOTE=doug&maggie;1300974]A feature I really like on the CampWhere app ($4.99), which is not available on Allstays ($9.99), is the ability to "star" sites on the map.

Allstays is our #1 camping app. If you want to see a feature added, such as the ability to "star", make that suggestion to the developer. He is very responsive and has implemented a number of my (probably not mine exclusively) suggestions, such as the ability to add a review.

I've been using Camp & RV, available on Android and iOS, with great success. Not free, but worth it, for me.

I realize this thread is about apps, but, since the Campwhere seems to have been discontinued, I'll mention something which I learned of from the Forums, here, uscampgrounds.info; I use it all the time. Even tho it isn't an app, on iphone you can use "Safari" and search it there.

I have only had my iphone since early Spring and am still learning about it. I need to start getting into apps; I've tried searching a little for them, but it seems a little undaunting to me.
