2010 Disney Halloween - Not So Scarey Halloween Party - Halloween Night In Loop 300
Halloween Week at Fort Wilderness - 'Nuff' Said - -
Make this a three-peat - 2007, 2008, and now 2010.
There will be at least 3 Forum familiar Airstreams in the 300 Loop - arriving October 27, departing November 3. One additional family riding the boat over from another site in the complex.
Fort Wilderness Halloween is Small Town Halloween as Halloween should be as remembered by those of us who grew up in the 50's. Our campsite has given away enough sugar in the years past to put an entire village into diabetic shock. We plan a repeat in 2010.
Gave up the Pirate motif this year for Mickey and Minnie costumes (not my choice - I just had my Pirate's Arrrgh down good). Plan to have an entry or two in the Golf Cart Parade.

Stop by the 300 Loop for an age appropriate treat if you are in the area. Have Beads to trade for ???.

We do Salem, MA every year for Halloween. The old Coast Guard Station is now Winter Island and they have camping right there.

These links are certainly not new - with the economic downturn there may be alternatives.
Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground map - wdwinfo.com
WDW - Fort Wilderness FAQ
As far as the campground goes - see my signature "do it right the first time" - don't know if the campground was Disney's first attempt or not, but it is certainly done right.
Bring the bikes along with you - onsite golf cart rental is expensive, and even though the busses run every 15 minutes, most of the year it is hot.
All of the northernmost loops are within easy walking or biking distances of the boat landing to the magic kingdom.

Thanks for the links. I'm going to check them out. As for other alternatives .. not for us. I know you pay more for staying on property but the benefits out way the cost to me. We took the kids for the first time last June and stayed in All-Star Music. I like having someone else get me to and from the parks. This time even the dogs get to come along!!
I was told to request the 300 loop for the proximity to the boat launch and dog area. I did request it but I was warned that although they try to honor requests they don't guarantee it.
Are there any must see/do things within the FT Wilderness Resort itself?

One More Successful Trip
3500 mile tow - due to unforseeable circumstances - but no major problems.
Below is a pic of two of the three principals of the winner of this years "Fort Wilderness Pumpkin Carving Contest"
We estimate there were well over 800 visitors to the 400 loop during the Halloween Trick or Treat hours at the campground.
We were disappointed that they put us in the 400 Loop instead of the 300 Loop, but the access to the boat landing is almost as good and the sites are definitely larger.
Probably the last year we will do this for a while - the Grand Daughter goes to "real school" next year and the Lousiana School System has some onerous rules about removing the kids for "vacation" travel.
Tried again to trade Mardis Gras beads for some male adult eye candy...no takers, but I did get teased a few times.....maybe no one took my offer 'cause my Mickey costume did not make me look very serious...or maybe I should have brought some better beads.
