2006 Airstream Nights
I think that it would be interesting to see how many nights Forum Members spent in their Airstreams during calendar year 2006, and, what the heck, included the number of miles traveled in your Airstream. I keep a somewhat detailed travel log on Lucy, and therefore, have these figures right at my finger tips.
I will start it off. We slept in Lucy for 77 Nights in 2006, and she was towed 9,800 miles.

We went less than 5 miles and slept one night in our brand new "Rollertoaster" and loved every minute. Of course we've only had her a week. Lucy's the perfect name, by the way. Unfortunately our alpha dog already owns that one.

We were down this year due to moving into a new home.
2006 will be 27 nights & 3665 miles (we're still going out Dec 30 & 31st)
2005 was 70 nights & over 6000 miles (I was WBCCI Unit Prez)
2002-2004 averaged 30-35 nights & 2000 miles
Already have 28 nights & 3800 miles planned for 2007. I'm sure that will change, I hope back up around 35-40 nights or so ~

We spent a total of about 19 nights in our Airstream this past season with a total of 2262 miles traveled. I don't have the exact numbers for previous years, but I do recall the first year with the Safari 2004 season, we did a few more nights and miles, but in '05 at the peak of fuel prices, we did significantly less.

We can always count on moosetags to start something new! OK, here it is, after going through the log we have spent only 46 nights this year in our Airstream. I know you will find someone in the 300 range for sure!

Wow. You all are far more die hard campers that I....but come to think of it, it's mainly finding the time I can get away, more than the fact I don't have the time.
We'll see if I can do better in 2007!

A guess
I expect about 80-90 nights and about 9000-10000 miles for 2007. The Region and International rallies will total over 25 nights together. Add 5 unit rallies at 5 nights each. The rest is largely 2 nighters at local state parks and survey trips to find new rally sites.
My wife is 1st VP of our unit and must come up with rally sites for 2008, including a site for the 2008 Texas Vintage Rally. It takes a year lead time in order to get the dates we want. We will start out in early January to Haven's Landing to finish planning for the big 2007 Texas Vintage Rally. Then make a loop through south Texas to check out some potential rally sites. We will not schedule a site without first visiting, inspecting the facilities, and personally speaking to the staff.

We have spent eight months in our trailer in 2006 on two long trips - I figure about 240 nights. Hope to do better next year!

Good question... I had to go back to the log to add up all the days this year... More than I thought... 2006 = 40 nights appx 7000 miles includes 2 trips up and down the east coast of the US. A few region 1 rallies and a few weekend trips. 2005 ~ 40 nites too mileage around 10,000 miles which included a (almost) cross country trip and the region 1 rally in Canada

Hmm...28 nights, 5000 miles. Four weeks seems to be popular - I guess spending one month a year in your Airstream isn't too bad for working folks, but it never feels like enough!

We're jealous. You put in a bunch of Airstream nights at some cool places. How did you find out about the campground host gig at Arches NP?

Not enough
We've traveled around 10,000 miles and 173 nights in the Tin Inn, all east of the Mississippi River and eastern Canada. We got a late start this year as we didn't start until the end of Feb when we finally got the HA and installed it. We should do a little better this year as we're getting an early start with attending the Can Opener.

Humm... 2 nights in my '71 before selling it this past Spring. And 3 nights on the way home after buying the '60.
And countless days working on it!

Hi moose---this particular job was advertised on the Arches web site. That is a bit unusual --normally you have to go through the gov volunteer site. there are lots of neat seasonal jobs , you just have to beat the bushes. be prepared to say yes when you apply as they go down the list of applicants --if you snooze you lose----pieman
