Recommendations for San Diego, CA
Fellow AirSreamers ....
My wife and I are heading out on a "tour" this year and will be in San Diego for a few days, in conjunction with a conference I will be attending. Do you have any recommendations as to where to "park" the camper. The conference will be at the Hyatt and while my wife enjoys the AirStream ... she wants to stay at the Hyatt ... so what I would lke to find a is place where I can park the camper for a few days (4).
However, if we have to "park" it in a campground .. well that will be OK as well. Any recommendations are appreciated.

Not to sure about the parking issue...but I was there in Feb 2009 and there is a fantastic place called Richard Walker's down town...try that for breakfast one day!!! Wow it was awesome! We ate there everyday that we were in town for our conference.

Chula Vista RV is by far the best bang for the buck, unless you are an Elk, then it is Chula Vista Elks Lodge.
The only other RV park we have used is Campland on the Bay. Very expensive, and not nearly as nice as Chula Vista RV.

I have stayed in Campland on the Bay for a week. During the week the J-O sections were un-populated. Some Full timers, some other regular campers. However come weekend those sections are a Zoo. Full to the brim with weekend partiers.
The best sections (most expensive) are A-H. Much quitier and more "up-scale" crowd.
It is close to downtown and they have thier own beach.
check it out campland.com

We just came from the area a couple weeks ago... we stayed at Chula Vista RV Park (If I remember correctly...) it was nice... had wifi, but had to pay extra... (boo) laundry, and close to the marina and nice restaurants.
However, my advice ~ if you can avoid any part of Interstate 5, aka the San Diego Freeway, do it! The road is terrible bumpy a real rivet popper!
You might check to see if any folks on the forum who live in or near San Diego offer courtesy parking...for airstreamers... might be an option if you aren't going to be staying in the A/S.
Have fun. Hope you aren't coming out right now ~ terrible weather conditions! Rain, wind, mud slides, high surf warnings and such.

Campland, in the off season, is around $20 a night if you are a Passport America member. Wifi is included making this a hard deal to beat.

Thank you all for your suggestions. Much appreciated. The conference I will be attending is in La Jolla, north of San Diego. I was hoping there would be parking available at the hotel but it is at the Hyatt Regency and they only have a parking garage.
Have you stayed or heard anything about the Santa Fe Park RV Resort? It is closer to La Jolla. It is located just off of I-5 which to me means it will be loud. But again we will only be in the camper for 2 nights after the conference.

If you stay near San Diego and travel north traffic should not be that bad.
