TRIPLE AXLE 1988/89 5th WHEEL

HI
I am looking for photo's and info on the 1988/89 Argosy/Airstream TRIPLE axle Squarestream 5th wheel for my Airstream history file. It looks like this is a rare trailer.
A forum posting dated 10-03-2003 MY NEW TRAILER-ARGOSY 35'TRIPLE AXLE,5th WHEEL talks about one that was for sale but not much info and no photos. It also sead that it was made in 01-1991 and had a slide out.this does not fit any of the info that we now have.

Hope some good Argosy/Airstreamer can help.

TRIPLE AXLE 5th WHEEL

I will run this one more time if no one can give me info on this trailer I will assume that the 10-03-2003 forums posting "MY NEW TRAILER-ARGOSY 35'TRIPLE AXLE 5th WHEEL" did not know what they where talking about.

Thanks for reading

my fifth wheel is dual axle, but when I looked up the value, the only option was three axle. I wonder if the 5 slide out units called for a third axle due to structure change and weight?

We just purchased a 35' 1988 Argosy 5th wheel. It has two axles. It is also one of the "rare birds" with the slideout! It's in pretty good condition, but needs a little work - mostly cosmetic.

We are in the process of putting her back to (as close to) original as possible and are looking for images for the rear. Specifically the power center. If anyone can help, we would appreciate it!

We were just up at the Airstream campground in Crossville, TN. There are 2 of them in residence there, maybe someone at the park can help? I saw a couple of AIR stickers when there.

Great looking unit. Mine does not have the slide, but I am considering putting one in. You have the dinette layout. Mine has the "hutch" with free standing table and chairs. What do you need for the power center? I have changed mine since I had to do major resto on water damaged unit, but I may have a photo before demo. I will look.

Well, I think we may have figured a lot of it out yesterday. We found some wires that were not connected to anything. We think that as things quit working, they just disconnected the wiring The credenza in the rear has been removed, so the wiring is just laying in the living area.

Yesterday we had a huge storm while we were out working in the camper. A real "gully-washer"!!! It was really good though, because it gave us the opportunity to find all the leaks! We think all we need is a little sealer on the roof. We were planning on replacing the inside ceiling anyway as it was pretty warped. The floor is nice and solid and none of the cabinets have been ruined by the leaking. It did, however, cause some corrosion in the wiring and light fixtures. Evidently we have the "upgraded" fluorescent lights (which I really don't like) so we are going to replace them once we get the ceiling done.

Any thoughts as to what the best thing is to seal the roof with? It appears to be rubber in the middle. I know the leaks are around the roof rack, the ladder, the air conditioners and possibly the vent. We have a switch in the bathroom (there are three together) that we haven't figured out yet. Could it be for the vent fan? Just discovered the fluorescent valance light yesterday! Seems like we discover something new each day

I am happy to assist any way I can. I can relate to the excitement and challenges you describe. It took me awhile to figure things out as well, and I still have some things to discover, but I have been through mine quite thouroghly. One of the three switches is for the overhead fan vent, one is for the light in the ceiling, and the third is for the light over the mirror. As for the wires in the rear, and the cabinet, I can give you dimensions of the original cabinet if needed, and pictures. I suspect the loose wires belong to several things. First, you should have a 110 2wire with ground entering from the floor which is the generator lead coming from the front generator compartment, also a 12 volt hot and ground lead for the light (small square 6x6") which lights the compartment. I added to mine with a 12 cig connector for my port sat power hookup. Lastly other than the main box, there should be phone and CATV wires that terminate in that compartment. I eliminated the phone, and rewired the Cable in the unit, which you could do if you are replacing the ceiling. High Def over the air signals as well as sat signals do benefit from upgrading the cable wire. Look for a "Quad shielded" RG6 cable at any big box store. I am still working on a ceiling system, so I will be interested in what you come up with. I have a temp up, but do not like it. I found a bulk supply for two inch thick fg insulation. It is not found just anywhere, and is really the best application I believe. Let me know if you need that. Good luck. BTW, where are you? I am in Maine, but Go to Georgia for a few months every spring. I am departing Thursday for a trip to MI, IN, and IA. John

I am not sure what you mean by florescent upgrades, but the original was almost all florecent 12 fixtures. Many of mine were water damaged as well, and I have replaced some and kept some. It seems that they had twice as many as I think is necessary. I really like the florescents behind the valences in the lr. they light the ceiling and are not harsh, like the overhead lights.

I thought maybe that switch was for the fan.... We did figure out the generator hook-up. I sent for and received the manual from Airstrem and it was pretty helpful. We haven't yet checked out the waste dump. It appears to only have one lever, but I know there is a gray and black tank. Might explore that soon.

We are putting styrofoam sheeting in the roof for insulation. Jim (my hubby of 39 years) thought that would be a good fix. He's cutting to fit between the I beams. We are still debating about ceiling material. We will probably end up with at least some wood.

This weekend the roof will get sealed and caulked. Then we can put up the ceiling. I found a photo of the credenza at the back end. We will do some variation of that. Our tv hookup is to the right as you come in the door. As for phone, we are all wireless at home, so no need in the camper.

Where do the 110 wires run from the back? We are guessing they go over the door?

Our air conditioners are fairly new, the hot water heater is new, but the frig is probably toast! We wanted to have someone come and check out the gas before we fill the tanks and try the stove or furnace. Hopefully they will work.

We are in the Lake Lanier area a Cumming to be precise. We took the ferry from Portland, Me to Yarmouth, NS on our honeymoon. Grew up in the Fingerlakes of Upstate NY.

I kind of felt like I hijacked this thread, so I've moved over to the thread about our argosy. Btw - the vent fan works!
