Becky, I want to see a picture of you! You must be Wonder Woman! How did you pick up so many skills?

Your new trailer looks terrific! I really like that floor.

Well, I'm not wonder woman. My daughter-in-law was wonder woman at a Tin Can Tourist Rally...I was the Super Hero Flamingo!Click image for larger version

ID:	270830 I have inherited my handiness from my father, who owned a hardware store back in the day. I just enjoy keeping busy & if I screw something up on my trailer, it's my problem & I can't blame anyone but myself! When I was married, 35 years ago, I didn't even know how to use a drill. Some woodworking classes & trial & error & here I am. So this is a picture of me with 2 of my grandsons. My real love is fishing. So when we went to a Tin Can Tourist rally & my older grandson reeled this lunker in, it made my day!Click image for larger version

ID:	270829 Thanks for the compliments! The trailer has a ways to go (the roof is a nightmare), but it'll get there!

I used Allure Ultra in Rustic Maple. It's the snap together kind. Had to order in from Home Depot. It's thicker than the stick together Allure flooring. I used a square, straight edge, coping saw, mallet & hammer & a bandsaw (not really necessary, but made it easier on curvy pieces) and a razor for installation. Wasn't bad at all. You can pull apart pieces if you need to, which you can't do with the sticky kind. I used that kind on my previous Avion, but this was definitely easier, plus, since it's thicker, it doesn't show floor imperfections through.

Thanks for the photos! It really helps my poor fragile mind to put a face to a name / avatar. Somehow, I feel that I know the person better. And you are a mighty mouse! Small but powerful! Nice family, too!

Susan

I grew up on a hop farm, so no experience with hand tools there. However, I can back a trailer and even impress Ray Ecklund!

So I decided I should address the leaks in my trailer before I continue on with the pretty stuff. The pretty stuff is much more fun, I gotta say! The roof is completely covered with multiple layers of tar, silicone & some kind of tape. I started on the awning rail on the curbside. Finished that in 2 long afternoons. Now I'm on the SS awning rail. I removed the refrigerator vent after removing 1/2" thick of goop with a heat gun. After that I'll use stripper & mineral spirits to clean everything up. Wow! What are people thinking when the just keep piling layer upon layer of goop???

On a more fun note, I went shopping for my fabric for the gaucho, dinette, bed bumpers & curtains for the front section. I'll have my upholsterer friend do the gaucho & cushions. Curtains....I might take a shot in the winter!

Impressed with your roof work but really like the choice of fabrics.

I like your fabric choices, too! I just don't have an eye for such things. That will be good looking.

Yes, fabrics look really nice!

Your post made me think of looking at fabrics while I was at a Hobby Lobby this past weekend. They have some very nice stuff!

I'm on the home stretch of my roof goo removal. I replaced the sewer vents with aluminum vents (I used the same ones on my Bambi II). And the plastic refrigerator vent was replaced with an aluminum one. The three 14" vents will be replaced soon, as well as the gasket on the a/c. I truly can't wait to be off the roof! But the scaffold helped me immensely. My son, Paul, brought one out for me so I wouldn't break a hip! He's not so worried that he'll do the nasty job for me! I hope all the nasty fumes don't kill me Click image for larger version

Very good work, you've much more ambition than I do. I don't touch anything until it either breaks or appears to be in danger of doing such. It's a credit to these Avions that with minimal maintenance they give good service. Ours is an 80p and is used for several weeks each season, only with little maintenance. If I could I would do what you have done and are doing, too old now. Our only problem is refrigerated that works occasionally, everything else is fine. Good luck, keep going!

FWIW, the next AC unit in mine will be one of the low profile units with a condensate pump. I was reminded of this by your vent replacements. I plan to run the discharge to the closest tank vent on my Silver Streak.

I talked my daughter into a Dometic Penguin Low Profile when she had an Argosy Minuet (short little one). Oh my! That little a/c was SOOO noisy! And she had a world of problems with it until the factory replaced all the guts. So, I'll just keep the old Coleman until it gives up the ghost! Maybe you can find a different brand of low profile, cause the Dometic one was a huge disappointment.

The thread "best info to self-install air conditioner" has pics of the install. It was in 2010, so not sure if they have changed it since then.
