i still don't know the answer however.
i think you are right that the haha alters the forces on the tv REAR (driveline tires)
i don't know it that increases or decreases friction or sidewall forces (tv tires) compared to other hitches.
i've towed approx 50k with the haha.
oem bfgoodrich rugged trail t/a e rated tires, usually kept at 70-78 psi...
and rotated every 5k,

i expected NOT to like this tire, but they performed really well in all conditions and loads...
and were used for the first 45,000 miles of towing.
with ~6/32nds left (i could have gone another 10k) i went for new rubber.

i've towed approx 5,000 miles with this tire (just rotated) and the rear (drive)tire wear was...
4-5/32nds MORE than on the front (steering) tires...
really a significant difference in just 5 k.
why?
well i was tinkering with w/d and opted to adjust the haha spring bars so that less tension was on the bars and more weight on the rear axle.
it was fine towing this way BUT the extra rear load (approx 800lbs) really ate the tires.
so back to your question, perhaps your reduced wear is a result of better load distribution
clearly the haha allows for smaller increments of adjustment...
