Vicious attack

Returned home from a Thanksgiving trip to Topsail with one very dirty trailer due to rain going and coming. Noticed I had picked up some tar and what appeared to be white paint. Washed the trailer Saturday and the white paint wouldn't come off, no matter what I used. Obviously its not paint, I have been attacked by the dreaded filiform. The funny thing is it is only showing up on the panels under the front window and the LP tank (so far anyway). I already had a little around the battery box frames but wasn't too concerned. Now I'm really concerned. Waxed the infected area real good and will conitinue to do so in hopes of stopping a serious epidemic. I have a lot more reading to do here on the subject but any suggestions or comments are welcomed.

Thanks

I've used Bioshield and corrosionx and it does kill it. It turns from white to grey and doesn't seem to be spreading anymore. Good luck! I hate that stuff.

I'm lucky, only a couple of small spots. I did pick up some CorrosionX but haven't applied it yet.

Did you just spray it on and let it soak in? Do you need to make a pinhole in the clear to let it soak in?

I would put a hole in the clear-coat. It's alot like wd40 (kind of runs) but I think it helps. The Bioshield turns into a waxy substance that stays on better but use it sparingly since its hard to get off.

Which do you like better? Chris Birch pointed me to the CorrosionX. He didn't say why.

Every spring and every fall I spray Corrosion-X on the corroded spots and wipe with a rag. I doesn't seem to be getting any worse, but who knows why.

Corrosion-X will stop corrosion and is approved by the FAA for use on aircraft. We use it all the time on our aircraft. I spray the inside of our plane every year. It is cheap insurance.

Just spray paint the whole damned thing Greg.
We can all help after bourbon tasting at the CanOpener.

Good enough reason for me!

Hmmm, I must have missed the announcement for this year Dale. But, I'm flexible and will adapt

Appreciate everyone's comments about fixing this problem before it gets out of hand. Looks like a regular treatment of CorrisionX is the ticket.

Nail Polish

I hate to promote something so simple, but I've had great success stopping minor filiform with the clear nail polish that the women use for "strengthening" their nails. Admittedly, I'm one of the lucky ones that has had almost insignificant problems.

Corrosionx has been working well on my airstream for 3 years now. As soon as you spot it especially around areas where there are dissimiliar metals, give it a shot. I find that it forms near my airstream badge so I spray it behind the logo liberally and it has stopped any further growth.

I wonder if Skin Bracer will slap the filiform into submission?
