I have to confess.. I'm one of those insane folks that purchase a 'Salvage'

Last year I purchased a 2005 Safari 22'. The most amazing thing is that I feel that since it is far from perfect, I can do as I want to update to what works best for me. No fear of 'ruining' it...

The first thing I did was to take out the wall between the dinnette and bed. Removed bed mattress and the tall closet. Much more room. Made bed into a couch. May even put another window where the closet was to have a better view outside when seated on the new couch. Have just redone the fabrics... photos to follow....

Here are the photos of the reason it's a 'salvage'....

The interior is fine, a slight distortion on the street side. Everything works fine... Pulls fine, passed NY inspection

Again best part is the freedom to do as I wish...

I just finished the interior cushion update, cushions I hired out, but the fabric on dinette I did myself as they wanted $1600 with my fabric. Turned out great !

Next project in fall will be possibly be mounting a fabric covered thin board to cover wall against the dinette

Here is the couch and dinette fabric re-do. No more boring blue faded Safari fabric !

The last photos are of our own get away . Nobody really sees the blemished side !!

woah - did you fix the dent yourself, or are you leaving it as is??
is the 2nd trailer also yours? hopefully you got a good deal! was it from an auction, or?

It doesn't leak where the dents are? I would think it would leak for sure- they all leak and that will cause rot and mold- did you check under the flooring at all? It sure does look more open inside with the wall gone.

We did not fix the street side dents.... The areas don't leak, so no mold We did use vulkrum on all seams... We know all too well that they all leak somewhere, but none in this one... maybe leaving the dents will ward off the water ????

We do own the 2nd Airstream in the photos... All said we own a 1972 TradeWind, 2008 20' Safari, the injured 2005 22' Safari and the most recent is the Paintball marred 29'Avion Travelcader.... Quite the portable neighborhood.... Did I mention we don't take them anywhere, we have 26 acres and enjoy peace and quiet !

So, the next project is attending to the Avion's booboos.... Maybe we need therapy ???? Addiction to silver things.. ....To think it all started when we bought my parent's T@B ....a little too colorful

I like the way it looks with the room divider removed - much more open and airy. I also like the idea of turning the bed into a gaucho - though my main complaint about my trailer is the lack of a full-time bed, I do like having the option to have a bed or a couch.

Nice that you just camp on your own property. We have a small property (3 acres) and I often wonder why we go camping to be crowded in among other campers, when we could camp at home and have nobody within 300 ft!

Dude, megakudos to you for having the stones to take a "new" trailer and modify it to your taste. You go man!

Further, you took what would have been scrapped and brought it back to life. So that's double cool!

I don't think any of these things are "sacred". Modify it to be what you want and be happy with it. Aren't these silver tubes great? I did own two at one time but am now down to one. Got my eye on another one though to add to the fleet.

Keep the silver alive and well; customize to your heart's content. That's what it's all about!

I still want to turn mine into a Tiki hut....I just have to wire up the new 50amp Intellipower, redo the plumbing, install the floating floor, and then maybe I can start hanging tiki heads all around....
